Clermont Carn doesn't transmit UK services. If you're on/near the east coast, with a single vertically polarised aerial pointed at Clermont Carn, your UK stuff is more than likely coming from Kilkeel.

Kilkeel isn't a full-service Freeview transmitter but, all Freeview sites carry BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, CBBC, ITV (or UTV/STV), & Channel 4 HD. As mentioned already, you need a DVB-T2 capable receiver, & also hope that signal conditions in your area can provide a reliable service: satellite is a surer bet in this latter respect.

The EPG on Hotbird channels is the standard 7 day EPG used mainly in Germany and supported by generic satellite receivers. The 2 EPGs on 28˚E are bespoke to sky and Freesat and only work with the appropriate receivers, though some have hacked the Freesat EPG.

I have the 250 box set up in attic and I use it from time to time when I am forced to attic to see match. I wanted to record from RTE 2 today but all the irish channels are scrambled. I rescanned all the stations again but still cant get the stations. Would appreciate any help.

    Thanking you

Have you got your aerial plugged in to the box, as opposed to the cable from the LNB?

Did you scan on the terrestrial scan as opposed to the satellite scan.

The RTE channels are not available on satellite without a sky sub or a saorsat setup.

I did a terrestrial scan and no channels found came up. I will replace the aerial lead and try again

    Thanks very much

    Hi folks,

have been out of the loop for way too long. Used to be reasonably proficient with this box but it has sat there under the TV for many months getting the usual dust down but remains in standby, dormant.

Got a call to the fathers house last night. All channels gone. Dont know WTF he managed to do but nothing on Astra 2A at all. I had initially set up my box and just transferred a backup to his at the same time with all the categorized fav section done to my liking. Anyway, 9.30 last night and I could not have been arsed to set up again in his place so just blind scanned and got him up again with the usual 7 channel 4s and about 10 ITVs and all the other multiples. So, my question.

The box is on FW ver:1.18. Can I just pop on the FW 1.27 that was uploaded to dropbox ( linked in earlier April 2015 post ) with the channel categories ?

    That should work just fine.

You always have a risk when upgrading firmware but in all probability you'll be sound.

Yeah nowso, you're spot on, if I had a penny for every time I went to the old mans house and was asked "why is me golf channel gone?" And then have to re-scan a TP, if be a wealthy man. But for the best part, they've been thrilled with the setup and it's pretty bulletproof.

    1.27B3 patch

In a moment of madness, I updated my 250 when I had no issues. I just wanted to leave feedback on it for others:

    - I have a powered HDD, after the update, a partition error would come up around 50% of the time making the HDD unusable.
    - A fast boot was introduced, the 250 starting in around 1 second
    - The standby function on both the remote and on the front facia would not work around 50% of the time, a hard turn off being required to reset
    - The EPG would populate, but the OSD now & next would be blank for maybe 40% of channels, and this would get worse the longer the box was left on...
    - Often the EPG reference would freeze - in other words, the 250 time would lag the actual time. It could be 21:00 but the box would think it is 19:30.

So, thanks to Boardsies, I updated to 1.27B5 - which, so far, seems to be fine.

    Avoid 1.27B3!

If you have your box connected to a network that supports wifi then the "Ariva STBRemote" app is very good - it allows you to control your STB box using your phone. Your phone connects to the wifi and then your STB box should appear in the list of controlable devices.

I have only used the Android version and I'm very happy with it - I can't comment on the iPhone version but it would be worth a go.

One of the best things about the app is that it uses network connectivity to control the box - i.e. it doesn't need "line of sight".

That said, I've never had any trouble with the remote that came with our box.

    Hi

    Can't get this to work

Ariva 152 plugged in to network, V1.27B9

Has all the right ip settings

When I "scan" on iPhone app, nothing

    Android app says "no server"

    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?

Is it a 5G system by any chance? It doesn't work on mine, I have to be on 2.4G.

I got it to work. I upgraded to latest version of firmware (don't know if that did the trick).

Box must be on, app must be started after the box is switched on, then it finds it.

Sooooo I had an upgrade go bad.
I have USB to serial and a Null modem cable keep getting set stb memory error so am guessing its to do with the USB to serial converter.

Does Anyone know the procedure to restore a good STB to an ASH STB?

    Thanks in advance.

Power up the good box until you have a picture ( do not power down until complete) . Connect a null modem cable to bad box (usb to serial will not work for this ) and power up the bad box using the power switch on the back . You should see front panel display change on both boxes
