Switched to spray on stuff this year finding it's coming of alot easier compared to paint and cleaner/easier to apply, using kamars as well just to be sure surprising how many you pick up with them when tail paint isn't removed our wet weather when you do be debating if the rain our the cow actually been bulling has removed the paint
Using kamars and crayons on heifers worked well for first 3 wks now the fcukers are ripping it off them selves

Had to get a bottle of the spray last week as the local glanbia out of paint. I thought the opposite, doesn't bloody rub off 1/2 easy enough at all, definitely back to the paint next time.

Only kamars worth using are the heat seeker ones from Australia they get a serious grip on the cows have seen them stay on cows for months after ai if they have held to bull/ai do need a vice grip getting them of some cows when they're being replaced, they're expensive at 2.30 each but are worth every penny in my opionin

Put new tail paint on cows about 5 days ago. Bloody stuff has gone like a rock on them. Had a cow bulling yesterday and not a bit of it came off

Used to use the telltail bottle, using dulux tail paint now applied with a rad roller from the floor of pit. It's more brittle than the telltail,, comes off easier, and much easier to apply, no climbing the rails, and the cows barley notice their being painted.

I use the tell tail spray cans. I am not very tall and just spray them all in parlour. Does the paint drip much in parlour / crush when applying?

I don't know if you've it discussed in here as don't check in here too often, but what did lads think of that 2page spread on that Longford lad in the indo on Tuesday?

    180cows on 34ha with 7000l herd av and growing 18.8t ha dm/yr!!

Are there tears behind the smile?

Fag packet calculations I would say it's costing him in our around 7 cent a litre feed costs including maize, meal and fert on milking block, the one bs statement in my view is his costs been less then 20c/l unless it excludes loans and drawings even at that it's no way a true reflection unless a lot of corners are being cut re reinvestment and farm maintanence

Is the farming indo online anywhere? Couldn't find a link to the article and presumably can't get the paper version now?

It appear off the scale figures:eek:
Good lads around the country might be _/+ 15% on teagsasc or top 10%
but this lad is heading for ..??????
Most will agree the wheels can begin to fall off the wagon at or above 3.4lu/ha on a n av over a 5 yr. peroid
I know he buffers but I think there s more than what we read!

All I wish you is that you'll need to be on daily collections again in a few yrs.

I'd say there's some talk in the parish when the neighbours saw the truck arriving with it :):)

    All the best

I may get into a few high yielding hols so :D
One neighbour came and wished us luck with it.

It'll save me 20 min in morning having to wash tanks.
now next job is coin toss between storage and parlour :)

She's going to be bottom fill so should be non return valve on it. They put a 2 way valve on it incase milk lorry cones during milking he can fill away without disrupting milking

Green grass,Nice tank! Well may she wear (and fill) !
Changed the tank here a few years ago to about double what was needed with an ice cooler so hopefully have all that expense over with,we added extra units at the same time
Up about a third in production on this time last year and noticing the ice cooler (pumps iced water through the plate cooler) is a bit more under pressure in the mornings

She's a nice looking tsnk alright. Ours can be rigged up to an ice builder if we want but I doubt we'll need it if we put enough water through plate cooler.
Have you a 2 stage plate cooler?
That might help if you don't

Ye had thought of that but adding the bit onto dairy has really suited the front yard.
Will be a bin going in the only place a tank could have gone if we put it out side
