Dunno how people can even begin to narrow these things down to one or two artists.

Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. What an amazing band of musicians with an amazing man at the front. He's great because he is completely lacking in ego

Everyone knows Freddie is the top spot so I'm not even going to contest that but I'd also think Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke deserves a mention.

Everytime I see him perform I feel like I'm descending into some kind medieval insanity.

Shane MacGowan on a good night. However, on a bad night he could be mediocre.

Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age gets my vote. The voice, guitar and cigarette. He epitomises rock music.

    Black Francis at two.

And like it or not, Liam Gallagher gets third spot for me.

*Freddie Mercury had great presence but he wasn't "rock n' roll" so I can't consider him.

    Allison Moyet

    ???

Must admit I haven't seen her, but can remember her on TOTP back in the 80s and thought she just clicked her fingers! Great voice mind you.

Another one that impressed me was Karl Hyde of Underworld. Considering he has had so many dance anthems he is a terrible dancer himself...but makes up for it with energy.

would have to agree with the majority here and say Freddy Mercury and Mick Jagger.

Freddy Mercury had this kind of masculinity and confidence mixed with femininity and vulnerability that I haven't ever seen in anyone else and Mick Jagger was just so cocky and confident with his stage presence and attitude that you have to respect him for it.

I was at a Fleetwood mac gig and I have to say that when you see Lindsay Buckingham live, you just cant take your eyes off him on stage but its mainly down this his guitar playing ability and how comfortable he is with the guitar and for the girls I would say Stevie Nicks had a very mystical and mysterious kind of stage presence.

Have seen U2 and wasn't that impressed. He's a good vocalist alright, but his moves are pretty lame, it's almost as if he lacks rhythm, and that whole McPhisto thing was toe curling. Crowd did lap it up though.

Dear God, that's some time ago! :D
Where you in Cork in '93?

Now to be found on Valentia Island in Kerry afaik. Not far from where Def Leppard's Joe Elliott lived for a few years.

David Byrne, just such a great stage presence without there being any ego about him.

People like Axl Rose can **** right off tbh.
