The Cold War is over, hope is in the air. Over one million people gather at an airfield in Moscow. Rex and Vinnie with a rhythm section tighter than Panzer division advance. Dime shredding over the top and Phil going bezerk like a redneck gorilla. Hell of a time to be alive....

Any excuse to post this video

Liam Gallagher. Such a clear, beautiful voice.

When they started off, he was actually a lot clearer. On a documentary for the making of Definitely Maybe, one of the producers remarked that he used to have such a sweet sounding voice. How times change.

I would have him up there in fairness, but that's just me. I've seen Kasabian a few times also and Tom Meighan is a cool guy altogether. He walks on, and he owns the stage. It's noticeably different when he goes to take a break, awesome presence.

Sting is also another. Quite the opposite to the two previously mentioned, it's all about the melodies in conjunction with the voice that get you hooked. He's great.

Eddie and Freddie also, the standard bearers.

Best frontman or best known frontman? Because there's a hell of a difference and I'm seeing a lot of overrated sh1t suggested as best frontman on here.

Bruce Springsteen. With the possible exception of Freddie he is quite simply head and shoulders above anything else the world of music has produced. Freddie while an amazing musician, singer and songwriter was also very theatrical and flamboyant, bruce is just good old fashioned rock and roll brought to life, so for that reason he clinches it for me. Jagger was good, but hasn't produced a good song in 20 years so he's getting docked for trading on past glories. Stephen Tyler was great - but he's getting docked for sucking satan cowels cock

I liked this post just because of the last sentence.

Currently? Win Butler without a doubt.

All time is purely down to preference but The Boss and The Queen are obvious mentions.

I dont think he's quite there and he hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, but Matt Bellamy will be up there when this post gets remade in 10 -15 years. He has the showmanship, the raw musicial talent and he's been improving in how he interacts with the crowd directly more recently.

As in the present, it has to be Efrim Menuck for me. He doesn't stand and he's not at the front of the stage.... he doesn't even fookin sing! yet his band, Godspeed You! Black Emperor speaks volumes for many a folk. And an amazing band to see live.

I love his work as Mondo Kane as well. He has a serious voice

Is it fair to pick the Arcade fire even though they share 'front man' status. They have so many epic performances and they put absolutely everything into their performances

I think Beth Gibbons from Portishead is pretty awesome too.

Freddie Mercury is the undisputed king of the stage

    Iggy pop owned the stooges

David Bowie is probably 3 of the top 10 frontmen...

    Ian Curtis
Joy division minus Ian curtis were new order. And sorry new order fans, but they were nothing compared to joy division

    Freddie Mercury
    Robert Plant
    Ozzy Osbourne

I'd also throw in Bruce Dickinson and James Hetfield as personal favorites of mine.
