And just read MTC's forecast and he's seeing a swing towards better weather in the later half of the week. I hope he's right

What are the main advantages Darragh? Would u consider switching to bales?

    Main advantages are
    1. silage is cut when ready. Quality is easier to achive. Its very hard to have all first cut ready at same time if you graze silage ground in the spring. The first lot could be 2 weeks ahead of the 2nd lot.
    2. regrowth is staggered and be earier to return into the grazing rotation.
    3. Will get more into a pit. First lot will have settled some bit.

We have appox 35-40% of silage in bales as it is, and don't think we'd go to all bales as there'd be an ocean of the f'ers. Set up for pit silage as it is so will never fully convert. we do bales 10 or 12 times a year - as little as 5 bales and up to 80.

New to yr.no. Similar here, high rainfall area West Clare. No rain Wed onwards with Friday being the best day. Wednesday good too which is good too for reasons other than silage ;)

Plenty bales to do here but will be out of the country for a few days from mid week on. Might get contractor to work away. Usually mow, tedd out and draw ourselves

If summer doesn't arrive in some shape or form soon I would say months in my case. Grass growth so far nearly as bad as 2013 with trafficablity even worse I'd say:(

Growth is only taking off here the last week but I'm pleasantly surprised with trafficability here . One good week of heat and we will forget all about this slow spring
