Just wondering if anyone experiencing this problem? Only started tonight. When typing, for no apparent reason, screen magnifies. Orange outline appears around screen. Very strange.

Sounds like you've turned on triple tap to zoom. Can't remember where it is in the settings though.

long story here but hopefully someone can help

I had my phone rooted with cm12 using bacon. after the update to cm12 I lost my root access
using bacon I got my root access back again on cm12
when I was restoring the apps via titanium I got an error so decided to do a factory reset
this is where all my problems start - after the factory reset the phone refuses to reboot. it hangs on the One Plus Android screen. Just in case I was not waiting long enough I left it overnight on this screen but still no joy. using bacon again I managed to roll back to cm11 but
    • I still cannot do a factory reset
    • I cannot get into recovery mode
    • I cannot root the phone via bacon as part of the unlock process seems to be a restart and going through recovery mode
I can do a normal reboot of the phone ok.

Every morning I get a message that an update is available (cm12) but I if I try and install the update, everything hangs at the One plus Android screen after the reboot. I then need to rollback to cm11 with bacon to get the phone operational again. I use the softbricked method and it loads into the fastboot menu.

knowing first hand how slow the One plus help team are I am not certain what to do? should I
    • just learn to deal with an unrooted phone on cm11
    • send it back to One Plus and tell them that the update wont install, and hope that they don't do too much digging to see the messing about with the phone that I have done
anyway as I said long story so any advice greatly appreciated.

    thanks,

ps, not that it is related to the story above but I have a nice big crack in the screen so if I send it back will One plus just return it without even looking at it and say you broke it not our problem...

Sorry to hear of your issue. I've been down similar roads with flashing ROM's in the past and there's usually a solution to be found and usually someone who will point you in the right direction. Be patient.

BTW, aren't you going to have to get the screen fixed? If so why not pop it back to OPO for a screen fix. They might reflash the latest OS as part of their standard repair procedure and you'd kill two birds with one bill so to speak. Perhaps someone who's had a cracked screen fixed by OPO will confirm if they wipe and flash the latest OS as part of their standard repair process?

Did you try use adb to use fastboot to boot to recovery. you'll also be able to re-flash TWRP recovery and flash a new Rom from there

Well I recieved the phone despite cancelling it through oneplus one and dhl. OPO sent it despite me asking to cancel before they shipped and DHL sent it to my neighbour desoite me saying I wanted to refuse delivery..... So I have a 64gb sandstone in the unopened DHL bag if someone wants to buy it for what I paid including shipping! I won't take less but if someone wants it they won't have to wait for shipping! Otherwise I will send it back to OPO.

How much did you pay for the 5s out of curiosity? Buy it on adverts or from a network?

I was thinking of getting one before I got the OPO.

From someone that has both - i can't understand how you could choose a 5S over the OPO. I know it's horses for courses etc.....

Ok latest update. the guide above is great so thaks for that. i still have a problem though. my bootloader is locked. when i try and unlock the boot loader, it starts to reboot the phone and this then causes it to hang.
    so back to square one.

got the 5s as a present. prefer android in general. I have a cubot x6 and love it for dual sim etc but literaly cracked screen last night so have to use the 5s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,002 ✭✭✭jay-me

Well that was short lived.. Realised I can't live without my android apps so I am going to keep the OPO :p Pity about the lack of dual sim but seriously it's only now that I am literally forced into recreating my poor broken cubot that I realise the functionality I would have to do without.

Smashed my screen this morning, woe is me :(

Has anyone attempted to replace the screen themselves? Easy/avoid?

Thought about it but seemed like more hassle. Mixed reviews about quality of parts and time for it to arrive turned me off it. Took the hit and got an rma. Ended up sending me out a new phone.

Touch screen still working? Mine was comepletely gone. Had to use an otg cable to get back ups done

Nah touchscreen completely gone too, don't think I have too much I really need backed up though.

How long did it take to get the new phone, and how much did it cost you?

One I got the rma number about 10 days. Cost was e140 I think. Cheapest I could find a screen for was about e80 plus up to a month for delivery

    Hi,

I bought a cogito classic smart watch today. Guess what? The app is not compatible with the one plus. Doesn't really matter because I can't get the watch to turn on either. Shame. Good looking watch. Back to Harvey Norman I go.

I flashed the latest CM12.1 nightlies with the new touchscreen drivers and the double tap to wake etc.. work flawlessly. After the update to lollipop it would take one or two tries before it would register.

I have no idea, google now told me about the drivers yesterday and I was already on a cm12.1 nightlie so I just updated to latest version and touch screen is back the way it was before lollipop.
