Well I was standing beside an A1 shareholder today denied a vote because an post returned a letter 2 years ago...
    Repeat an A1 shareholder
Quite a palava and seemingly there's a lot struck off the voting list for the same reason for 'security' purposes
Oh and wait for it,the onus is on you to find out this

The onus is on a lot of us to get a few changes made not least access to the rules of the society and the share register.

Yeah it was our driver today so I heard quite a bit.
Down in the shares office he was told that how would they know if he was still at his address and that a stranger could turn up
They were then asked why driving licenses and passports were needed...oh and would a hypnotist be enough to convince the two glanbia dairy advisors who knew this man that someone else was him
    You couldn't make it up

New entrants will only receive it once they have 2,000 shares bought by year end was originally ment to be circa 6,500 to get shared up but they decided to up it to a fiver a share, basically funding a nice chunk of the spin out through making new entrants having to share up to avail of milk support price.
Love their line about the spin out helping glanbia dairy farmers in expanding it sure will once you have a ball of shares any new entrants with them not shared up are getting a very raw deal myself included....

Not until you have 2000 shares which will cost 10k by the end of the year.

Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

So the big question, was it worthwhile for say arrabawn suppliers moving to glanbia?

Yes but your forgetting how much you will get back with the spin out

No spin out, that's only for those with shares before the vote. But at least we can get shares now, else we would be on the worst price in the country with out the top up.

The top up is from your own money though...in that you own the co op
That's a quare state of affairs isn't it when strathroy etc are paying more without dipping into farmer funds

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,278 ✭✭✭frazzledhome

The €5 per share is to hopefully entice non A1 shareholders to sell. Simple fact is that there are 1000' of shares lying around.

Share up to 2000 goes for all members supplying milk so what's the problem with expecting new members joining a fully invested business being asked to buy shares. 3 yr time frame to pay for them

€5 nothing to do with spin out.
Shares sold in will be bought

    What are Strath paying?
Ballpark, how many million have Strath invested in processing, marketing, R&D and new products?

A very good question and I can't answer it.

However you will agree Kev that the "decision" was to leave Arrabawn and move. That decision must surely have been based on a longer term view than current milk price.

Edit: I think 6 former Glanbia suppliers went to Arrabawn in the last while. As you can see its not all one way traffic. They felt they couldn't sign an MSA and the Arrabawn guys felt they could.
