I have to say, it's a crap thing to happen, especially on a car as original and standard as the mammys Octavia. My 156 has never been crashed but has had some touch up paint. I'd hate the thought of knowing a car of mine was crashed.

I suppose not being crashed is the big think. My astra was the only thing that never had paint completely original. Focus and golf were both sprayed several times but not crashed as all the main components underneath were original. Id say the megane I have bought never had paint when I seen it but they are going touching up a few small marks on the front and sure they will have to spray the sill now too such a shame that some idiot couldn't move a car from one car park to another 100 metres between them without damaging a sill and loosing keys I know sh!t happens and all but it doesn't make them any less annoying.

My mothers octavia is after been crashed into while it was parked. The person that done it admitted it and all but apparently there is a lot of damage some serious sickner having to get a completly original car sprayed.

People can be so careless when it comes to things like this. How did it happen at all? Surely in and out everyday, he'd know the car park at this stage. Has it happened before? Naturally, it seems shes understanding of the whole situation. I suppose she wouldn't want to make a bigger deal of it. One thing that I can't fathom is the damage caused by a low speed, is it badly gouged, bent in or just dented?

Days like this, I just want to pull my hair out, what little of it I have left. So I have to go to Dundalk for a hospital check up (mid louth me arse!). On the way home, the exhaust decides "ha f*ck you mal I'm falling off". Bad enough, thankfully off the motorway when it happened. Rubber hangers then decide well if the exhaust is jumping ship, we will too! Then the tail piece says I'm rotten, might aswell fall now.... So I stagger on, on the backroads local to me. Littered with potholes. Bang! Tyre goes next. Pull in, out with the snap on flex handle. Off with the hubcap and onto the bolts. Broke the bar in half. Great. Ended up rimming it home. Exhaust almost finished, just in having me tayyy. Need to pull a tyre out of my arse too... Some day!

Anyone have some spotlights in the shed that they don't want anymore? Willing to pay a few euros for some

@dgt he reversed into it with one of the work vans that's missing a wing mirror which says a lot. It certainly isn't the first time he's hit a car or crash one he is just careless.

Anyway heres a picture. I checked it out track rod and end, comtrol arms, arb, are all fine no play in the well either way either. So it's cosmetic damage.

A lot of cars on the road have had paint BP, I wouldn't worry about it. As long as its a decent repair it won't change the value of a car like that by much if anything.

Oh car, you make me so poor :(

Self inflicted cost mostly tho isn't it like myself! Intercooler fitted today to mine!

Regardless of it been her boss - she should still have the car returned to the sort of condition it was in pre damage - with hassle TO HER minimised as much as possible

Fogs or spots? You have to ask even with people who know cars :-)

Have a small set of ring fogs.

By the time the brothers finished learning to drive in it it won't be worth much anyway :pac: :D

Ah no I suppose sh!t happens they are going to get a decent crowd to do it that remember their santa that was a hell of a lot worse than that and they done a great job.

Usually yes, unless the dealer is very nice. They are under no obligation.

It's a small deposit I'd not be worried about the financial loss. Thank you

Actually what would people consider a normal deposit for a car Id always of thought of it as 50-100 quid. When I bought my golf I gave 100 quid I put 100 euro on the megane and they have me a receipt and took it off the website and they consider it mine now in the fact they wouldn't sell it to anyone else. But when I sold my golf the guy went up to the atm and dropped down a deposit of 700 quid for the car which I thought was quite high but it didn't bother me.

Depends on the value. Put a grand on the FR when I was buying.

I suppose on a brand new car that would make sense but on sub 10k secondhand Id of said 100 quid was enough but then I suppose some garages will want more than others depending on how popular or not the car is too.

On another note I finally got sick going to the petrol station and just gave in 4 bars living the dream :pac: I don't know how people drive around with very little fuel all the time I just find it annoying.

I offered ten percent but the chap said 100 was fine, now the car is only a bit above three grand.

Had some bad news this week which may mean funds are better kept for the future, I genuinely don't like to mess people around but this was unexpected :(

Sorry to hear. They might return it with a little sob story. Depends on how easy it is to sell for them on the flip side.

Those Renault fuel gauges used to wreck my head when the mother had one. I felt the things were so big you didn't know how far between half and a quarter you really were. Give me an old fashioned dial anyday!

I've no problem with them keeping it, and I know they had other enquiries as it's not easy to get an auto accord :)

I think I was more concerned they could force me to buy it :) I reckon I was panicing, you guys have calmed me down no end :)

Thanks to you all, appreciate the kind thoughts :) Oh may be losing his job :(

Yep the most accuracy you can get is to 1/8 of a tank. Kind of annoying if you sitting on 1/4 of a tank because afaik once it drops to 1/8 the light comes on but maybe I'm wrong as I haven't been driving it with the light on so dont know. Ah when I get my actual car I'll just fill it once a week I think that's the best option.

Be upfront with them and you might see the deposit returned. You did say they were great to deal with.

@bpmull, what car are you hoping to get?
