Wrong and wrong. The Bible makes the claim that Jesus existed. If I tell you about the Bible's claim, I'm not the one making the claim, now am I?
Like I said, I read about Jesus' prediction on another website. I didn't work out that he predicted the internet, I just spread the information.

Two against one and you still can't prove me wrong.

    Reps for Jesus!

with regard to what you claim myself and katdid are wrong about, yes you are.

You claim that within the bible there is a prediction of the internet. You have been asked to link to or quote the parable. You haven't been able to.

You made a claim about the contents of the bible, yet cannot support your claim.

If you can read this, you're too close!

you just described atheism as essentially being a rejection of the "God in the gaps" argument. What's unreasonable about that?

    I don't know.

Let's shake things up a bit. Atheists are always telling the religious to prove God exists. I think it's high time Atheists prove God doesn't exist. I want to hear an Atheists argument to say that God doesn't exist. Just because you don't believe in him doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Unless you have some mathematical equation to say that a God-like creature could not exist then you have no evidence.

I'm asking you about a specific claim - YOU claimed that one of Jesus parables predicted the internet. YOU. Not Mr. Magoo or Barak Obama. YOU.

Either you stand over the claim or you admit you can't. The onus is not on me to prove that what you say is true. It's on you.

  • Site Banned Posts: 217 ✭✭Father Ted Crilly

Yeah. That's not an argument made by anyone on this thread except you though. That makes it a 'straw man' argument.

Probably because you're all Atheists. I'm standing my ground. I declare war. I'll take you all on at the same time. As long as the multiquote function still works, I should have no problems.

For the love of all that is holy and sweet, refer to the post made directly before yours. Thank you.

Now, that wasn't that hard, was it? You could have done that ages ago, and saved us all a lot of time.

And all that for a load of tosh...

the word "net" in a parable about fishing and how it is similar to the end of days is a prediction of the internet?

Did you just now google "bible" and "internet"? Because I find it hard to believe that anyone reading that parable would think, "hey!! Internet in bible!!" after reading the text.

If you can read this, you're too close!

No no. That's totally fine. I totally respect your opinion of my argument. No matter how stupid you think it is.

Now, would you be so kind as to give your argument(s)/evidence for the non-existence of God?

Well when you became aware that you have no arguments whatsoever, nevermind valid arguments, to back up your claim of God's non-existence you quickly changed your mind.

    Checkmate, Thread Closed. :P:pac::D;):):rolleyes::cool:

You can't really prove a negative. Why should anyone believe that god exists? Your basically asking people to believe the ramblings of a handful of Jewish dissidents from 2000 years ago. Why should anyone believe them? That's just the new testament, the old testament is a collection of stories from older civilizations re branded for the Jewish faith. Why should we believe any of that either?

Christianity is a religion of hope.

You haven't got an argument. The demented ravings of some lunatic on the internet who thinks that mention of a fishing net means the internet was predicted is not an argument.

I personally have no faith whatsoever in any religious nonsense. I don't buy any of it.

BTW, I might not remember making this post if you ever quote me on it.

It's obvious you're an atheist if you're going against everything I say. Am I the only religious person here?

Ok well I've got this big book called the Bible.

    Now, your argument is?

I have too. Several versions, in fact. What's your point?

My point is, it's always Christians providing arguments. Now it's your turn.

    Holy Mary...

Also, Mary is not my mother. Not your mother. Not God's mother. Not the "queen of Heaven". She is just a woman who was chosen by God to give birth to Jesus Christ. She is nothing else. She has no authority and is no more important in Heaven than the man on the moon.
    Holy Mary...

I find your posts quite confusing and contradictory at times.

It's obvious you're an atheist if you're going against everything I say. Am I the only religious person here?

You're posting in the Christianity forum so of course you're not the only Christian here. The other Christians don't want anything to do with your dreadful arguments. They're a knot in their stomachs from cringing at your posts.

You must know that Internet in the bible part was a low point. It was a conspiracy theory site. Did you see the kind of nonsense it was linking to? Do you have any concept of standards of evidence?

  • Site Banned Posts: 217 ✭✭Father Ted Crilly

Do you have any concept of standards of evidence?

I still haven't heard any of your arguments for God's existence. It would seem that the only standard is to say nothing.

It was the start of the nonsense part and has gone downhill from there.

And I say that as a Christian.

Well I never claimed to have proof of God's nonexistence.

On a related pont that's not how we come to find propositions believable. I've looked into the god hypothesis and found no real evidence for it. So I don't accept the proposition 'God exists' for exactly the same reason I don't accept the proposition 'aliens exist' or 'homeopathy works'.

I await your totally unrelated reply
