Ballyragget will be bursting Drivers will be horsing. I'd say the Kerry and Arrabawn drivers going into Bally may have to reroute

Got 100 straws of buster, his nz proofs look very good, and fairly reliable as well.
Just looking earlier , have a spring born bull out of Lamont I was keeping to be a vactomised bull, Ebi of 214, hardly worth keeping as full bull

Don't think he is too plentiful, have him ordered since end jan. He can only improve on the Ebi system as time goes by
Have a good few supersonic calves this year, looking very good as calves. And using a bit grandure this season.

Is 100 of YAD a big punt for a genomic bull? He's got good figures, but there's easily 5 or 6 other genomic hol's with similar EBI and production, I'd use more of them and hedge my bets a little.

100 straws is about 25 heifers so not mega risk. Just needed to buy something from this guy.

If you use national figures of 6 straws per heifer milking in second lactation it's only 16 heifers

Jacked out another monster of a HE bull calf last night, thought I was going to run outa room on the jack, was the last 6 inches on it before the hips popped out! And them HE straws were meant to be easy calving! Meanwhile a big overfat carryover of a HO threw a BB no bother the other day, calf up and sucking afew minutes later, might use more of them to clean up this year!

you can get easy/hard calvers in any breed Timmy usually with the HE if you get past the head you will manage ok,

A lot of cows have been dried off a long time ago at this stage! Really have to watch them in case they get over fat

Sorry Trixi only seeing this now.

We have about 70 calved this year. Super looking stock, black, deep and really nice high tight udders. I'd say they'd be the pick of the herd if a stranger came in to look.

I took some pics when they were calving but can't post. I lost the mobile version of Boards off the phone and the App is shyte and I don't know how to post on Laptop. Have succeeded once or twice but not prepared to give the time. If you are on Twitter I could post

I thought ye'd have full control of diet and rain wouldn't matter

Absolutely. But there is no way I'm going to allow these fecking Diva's to bawl at the gap when there is the best of grass in front of them!
Already after baling up paddocks and I'm not about to take out more because of a drop of rain.
The neighbors maize was at 5 leaf stage a couple of days ago...you wouldn't think it now as its under 3feet of water.

Two cows with tetany this evening.
How did I burst Mahoney's bubble?

I certainly won't be buying cattle! Cows maybe, but not cattle!

    Not funny for me!
They will be sub 27liters next collection but will bounce back next week when rain stops and temps rise.

The main reason for drop in production is temps were high twenties and then dropped to 14/15 with torrential rain. I'd be damned if I will mollycoddle them with an abundance of top quality grass in front of them.
Maybe I should go for some of your "runts"?
    :)

Are you all spring? And is he year round?. Currently milking 28 litres @ 3.9 Bf and 3.57 p . Winter and spring on 3kg of 14% nut. Put them on a buffer of 8kg of maize over the last 2 days and they seem to be holding. they dropped a litre and went down to 3.47 p over the last couple of days but are back up. The maize was bought in at 55 euro a tonne so it's just about paying for itself atm. Only bought 7 days worth as a trial because I'm thinking of going up in numbers and will need to buffer feed on limited land base.

All spring with 10% winter calvers. On 2kg 12% nut. I gave double feed for Sat in the rain and cows held.

You are doing very good solids. Hard to keep fat at that level with lush grass
