What's the other Uber like? The non-X.

If it's a bargain your after stick with Uber X (quoted €23-€29) as Uber Black is more than twice the price and would cost you €46-€58 from the airport to Rathmines..... But with €20 off would be not much more than a regular taxi but your getting a chauffeur.

    Uber X
    Everyday cars for everyday use.
Better, faster, and cheaper than a taxi.
    €3 Base Fare
    €0.33 a min + €0.53km
(€5 min fare, €5 cancellation fee)

    Uber Black
Your own private driver, on demand.
Expect pickup in a high-end sedan within minutes.
    €6 Base Fare
    €0.65 a min + €1.25km
(€15 min fare, €10 cancellation fee)

I had to get an a Uber Black car once because there were no Uber Xs in the area and I was in a rush.

Seriously lovely BMW picked me up and the driver was a gent.

10 min/2km drive cost me 15 notes though, so more expensive than traditional taxi by a fair bit!

The Uber Black service is more expensive, but the UberX service is cheaper than all other taxis.

Iv just signed up for Uber, they are doing a deal where you get €20 free travel credit if you use the voucher number "€20FreeUberCredit".

Theres also supposed to be some other thing about splitting a fare with a friend and getting 50% off.

To be honest getting a little free here and there is the only way I can see myself being able to get around during the strike, its ridiculous! Dublin is going to come to a halt!

    Doesn't work for me.

I've used Uber in New York City over New Year's holiday and the prices varied based on time of day/night plus there was a surcharge on New Year's Eve. It was all shown ahead of time so pretty transparent but was wondering if also in Ireland prices vary based on holidays, day/night, maybe even supply/demand?
Further question: how do you get picked up by Uber from the airport? Isnt there a fee that they need to pay (like taxis) to pick people up there?
