Grief Scotland ended up with an overall points difference of minus 200

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,834 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

That was embarrassing for Scotland, -200 on points difference.

How come there's not a big deal made about the ladies winning it too?

A fabulous performance today and indeed, all season long. One hopes this will make some of the powers that be sit up and give women's rugby more than then currently get, resources wise.

Indeed 2 Triple Crowns, 2 Championships, a Grand Slam, a first win by any Irish side over NZ and a WC Semi-Final all within the last 2 years

What would you like IRFU to give womens rugby/IRFU to change about running of womens game?

Do you want changes to clubs structure etc

From reports ive read it was a fantastic performance. Great to see another 6 Nations title. Hopefully the national side can get more games to showcase their talents in front of a bigger audience more often

The real issue is how we counter the English going professional and their club game. Can't see Wales or Scotland being interested in a w pro 12.

One option of course would be asking to join the English

How would you counter the professionalism in England?
Would you see the English being interested in Irish sides joining a pro league?

Having refereed some womens AIL teams and provincial league games I think the biggest thing we can do is really ramp up promo of the club game. The numbers are still quite small in terms of player numbers. 24 teams competing in womens AIL with relatively small provincial leagues behind that. Biggest thing is widening the player base

What would you recommend other than potentially joining the English league and who would you have join the English league? Provinces? Which ones and how many?

I posted this in 7s thread here ....
Great to see this. It will be tricky to get a team qualified for world series but it would be great to see them getting through. Some tricky opposition there so will be good test
China, Hong Kong, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Samoa, South Africa, Wales and Brazil and Colombia

Any news on any new clubs/changes in format for women's competitions for next season Losty? Hope to referee a few more women's games next season as enjoyed the few I have done...

That's fine considering we have no problem with promoting the ladies game, but we've had to snip out contact numbers.

Not as of yet. I wouldn't expect anything definite until September at the earliest when clubs are fairly sure on their ability to field teams.
