sometimes you have to. you have no idea how dirty some cars interiors can be. i've powerwashed lots of interiors.

treat the fabrics with detergent, agitate it, powerhose, then extract with a wet vac. does a smashing job. sometimes wet-vacing alone wont even touch the dirt on a seat etc.

How on earth is the warranty company not specifying an uneconomical repair and paying out MV?

No clue. Does economical even come into it though? You're paying a warranty for your exact car, I presume it's not treated the same as an insurance company would?

What's even more baffling to me is that even throwing €10k at a V12 for a complete rebuild would probably cover it. And you can be sure the one from BMW is a re-manufactured engine anyways.

I have no problem with it, I was just putting it out there for anyone who thinks  when they hear of power washing the interior.

I've seen several cars and the only other way to clean them would be petrol and a match!

Yeah, another user had a 3" straight pipe on his 325i. Was fun in bursts, but the drone would have driven me demented on any kind of commute. Was "ah they're about 3 minutes away" loud.

Ah righty, well I'll see what i can throw in to lower the noise and see from there because that would put my head in also :o

How does he dry the seat, they would be soaked, it would be different if you were in a hot country and left all the windows and doors closed and the heat inside the car would evaporate the wetness.

well you'd take them out of the car before you powerhose them, give them 15 minutes to drip dry, then give them a quick run over with the wet vac and they are 90-95% dry.

Done it to seats in the past but only after taking them out of the car

Even in Ireland it will dry if left outside with the doors open (if it's not raining)

Ok, obviously it's the seats and carpets I'm talking about.

I wouldn't let anyone powerwash my engine bay, never mind the interior and I have far less electronics in either location than more modern cars. Lol you could write off many cars with this module or that module getting wet.

Dude, I have had my engine bay power washed.
    And I drive an Alfa............:p

If you have a distributor, cover it in a plastic bag, otherwise drive on!

Guys, water is not a magical electricity carrying substance, some of ye worry way too much, all this stuff gets wet every time it rains.

What do you think destroys all electrical components water and dampness.

Also water is a electrical conductor.

Yes water and dampness destroys electrical stuff, but your engine gets wet every time it rains or you drive through a puddle.

And while we are being pedantic, water does not conduct electricity the impurities in it do.

Used to work with ultra pure water; the stuff is about 1000 times cleaner than drinking water. It has a resistance of about 18 megaohms, pratcially did not conduct anything. practically all the impurities were removed.

We were feeding it through an analyser for DOx and one of the lads dropped his galaxy s3 in a bucket of it. Zero issues, it was working when he pulled it out and no long term issues with it.

We were not talking about ultra pure water, we were talking about tap water and rain water which does conduct electricity, and very well I must add.

What did you store it in to keep it so pure?

And yes if you immerse your car you will have issues, if you spray some water at it you won't . Your engine bay gets wet every time you drive it in the rain, that's how the dirt you need to power wash off got there in the first place.....

Submerged maybe. A splash of hose water or rain water will conduct sweet f all

It was a constant loop; always being recirculated throug the deionisation/RO units.

Large storage was in 44,000 gallon stainless steel tanks. Pipework was mostly PFA or polypropylene

It was mostly because it was being recircalted that it was kept pure, if left stagnant, bacteria would form.
