I had to read that twice to be sure....but thats the price. True they have 2 and 4 night tours also...hope they have lots of rich foreigners lined up!

Hmm. I might consider it for a longer journey, like for the now-defunct a American Orient Express. Luxury train travel is a fantastic way to see the scenery, much better than a bus, and the service and comfort is similar to that of a luxury hotel. That said, Ireland's longest run is, what, four hours? Hardly enough time to enjoy the meal, let alone make use of the sleeper car.

Nice idea, wrong country.

The price is in tune with the rest of the Belmont Trips for that length of time, just where would it go? unlike Europe we dont have great landscape via the train, they dont go through the mountainside or am I wrong?

Day 1 - Overnight in Charleville. WTF???
Day 2 - Limerick Junction
Day 3 - Athlone

Its a very expensive Bus tour

The train only carries 40 people according to the website so that's where your money is going. Trains aint cheap things to run so typically you want to cram as many people in as possible. Having small numbers means high price.

It's a luxury tour. How much would an American spend on renting a car, booking hotel rooms during peak season, buying dinners, booking tours? It probably wouldn't be too far off and no guarantee of quality.

I think it will appeal to some people, it's a nice option to have.

Operated by Belmond who operate similar services in UK and Europe and operate the Orient Express route in Europe. So, they have massive experience.

The train is the mode of transport from point to point and the "hotel room" and the dining room. Local coaches take passengers to local areas of interest.

Somehow I doubt if your USA trip is 7 weeks in 5 star luxury with everything included!

For doubters - think of the luxury hotel market in Ireland. Plenty of people paying €1000 a night in some hotels. The market is there - its just not gonna be you or me.
