i think you summed that up quite well, but i think the middle sensible aged crowd of car enthusiasts think there is something to be ashamed of by liking a toyota and it's hard to know why that is.

in ireland, at least, i'd have to say the "toyota crowd" are mostly <25 years of age and are fond of showing their ignorance at times, which maybe is what leads to the middle aged crowd wanting to distance themselves, i'm not sure.

how do you find the 86 on a long trip vs the pug? which would you say is a more refined car to drive? which is a more entertaining drive? this has taken a bit of a tangent at this stage :)

white astra j gtc, keep an eye out!

Tbh, any attention the car gets is good attention, and I don't mind who is admiring the car, anyone can be an enthusiast!

It's a fine car on long distance spins, especially with cruise control. Being a TRD it has a stiffer suspension set up, I would say the RCZ is more refined but the 86 isn't at all bad, it can be quite a nice cruiser.

The 86 is a fantastic car to drive, especially in the wet! It sounds amazing and it is absolutely amazing to throw around. The RCZ is seriously quick, great acceleration and it makes an awesome noise, I love that about it.

I'd say the 86 is more entertaining, but only marginally

And not one of them produced this century. Bar The '86 modern Toyota are boring and dull albeit very reliable cars. I've had a Celica and two Supras and loved them but have zero interest in anything Toyota the last 20 years. Same goes for Nissan bar the GTR.

Fairlady's and Skyline GT's, man! And anything with the VK V8! Nissan still make great cars without even mentioning Nismo.

Toyota still make cool stuff too but like with Nissan, most of it doesn't make it over here. The Mark X is the new Mark II/Chaser. Still fast, still RWD, still a drift barge!
    Japan are still relevant.
