That's one of the few exceptions, its a song about addiction and Cash lived it so did it justice. IIRC he was a speed fiend and at one stage was driven so demented he went to die in a cave.

Cash's version was far too self-pitying. The NIN version isn't a plea for pity, it's about being a disgusting person undeserving of pity. That's my take on the two versions anyway.
