That's one of my biggest motoring fears. Happened to a neighbour about 10 years ago in a colt. The bonnet smashed the windscreen in on top of him at 70 odd mph on the M20. Was probably called the N20 at the time

Yeah its scary as hell seeing it go, even though mine opens like the old bmws so youd think the downforce would keep it down, it was absolutely hopping over the place

Oh ya sure I forgot you're running the 900 as a daily for now. The car with the most impressive bonnet opening procedure ever! :pac:

:pac: great innovation haha, ah no i love it, its what a car should be, I'd prefer this over the 9-5 to be entirely honest, it sounds rather amazing too when i can hear it :pac:

That happened me as well driving along bonnet flew up smashed the windscreen. Took me a few seconds to realize what just happened, the shock and smash and can't see anything.

Looking forward to the day its 100% to your own taste. Not saying it isn't at the moment but you know yourself, cars = never ending project!

The reason it happened was a few days before I had a front end smash so the latch obviously lost grip, and bonnet flew up.

That's it, It's getting there slowly but surely, once all the rust has been taken care of, I'm starting from the inside out, three's gona be no audio in it, just gauges, gona redo the door cards in black cloth, sort out the gearknob, and just tidy up the inside, get new led lights for the dash and get a headliner sorted and my all important whaletail :D

Then get bigger brakes, lower it, 16" super aero alloys, rejig them in graphite with a polished lip, at the same time start polybushing various parts, add a few litte engine mods and relocate the battery to the boot

Then take the engine out and send it off to get fully rebuilt with a tronic 5.5 management system from a 9000 aero, forged pistons, rods and various other go faster bits, and take the head off my green 9-5 and transplant it on

Then the fun part, wait for a 900 carlsonn to come up as scrap, and raid the gearbox out of it, take the box from that and transplant it onto mine, or get one made up, whichever comes first, should be pushing 350/400bhp when I'm finally done :D

Thats the general plan, obviously it wont go to plan and bits will creep up and other bits will get done sooner than later but thats the concept

The thing with a project car, especially one done over a number of years is the day you have it finished is the day you'll put it up for sale.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,605 ✭✭✭toastedpickles

True but I'll see when that time comes :) right now, I'm utterly loving this car, it's more raw than a butchers display

This muppet crashes the Ferrari on test drive, what happens there, like who pays for that, like they can't let any old fool in and drive one and crash them or everyone would be at it. He couldn't handle the power on the rear wheels.

edit: skip to 3:00 to the good stuff.

And each one of them a regret letting them go.

Seriously need to find a lock up

The only reason I still have the Corolla is because it's a daily driver, it'll be here for life

Me too, I would love the space to have 4 or 5 cars to hold on to and work on, the amount of times looking at donedeal and thinking I could get that...but I have no where for it. I know I would have a Supra, Datsun 270z, S14 and an MR2 by now.
