I never watched WCW back in the day. I've been watching back over some of the most famous moments all of which are really bad: The Giant vs Hogan Monster Truck thing, Hogan vs Sting at Starrcade (oh my god that was bad, the commentators reaction is really funny; they didn't know what to say), Hogan vs Jarrett liedown with Russo's promo soon after (the commentators constantly emphasising that this is real life is so embarrassing and funny at the same time; they really think this is a great angle) and of course, Goldberg not following the script. It's really funny because they were trying to present Goldberg not taking the Jackknife and Russo being angry with him as a shoot. Then one of the commentators said: "You know, I think Goldberg was supposed to go up for the Jackknife powerbomb, and he refused". So unbelievably bad. And really gave away that it's a work as there is no way the commentators would say that if it was real.

It's actually hilarious to watch at times (and especially the terrible commentary). It comes across like a spoof making fun of professional wrestling.

Was there anything good about WCW? :D (apart from the first few months of the NWO)?

The Cruiserweight division is generally seen as one of the few things WCW got right

WCW was tonnes better before all the NWO stuff, it peaked in '92/'93 before they brought in Hogan. The Sting/Vader/Flair period was GOLD.

Have you read the Death of WCW book?

No. I never read that one. Do you have it or know if it's on-sale anywhere in Dublin at the moment?

I've found the 1980s NWA, pre-WCW stuff to be very good. I've really enjoyed the first Starrcades.

Easons O'Connell St had the previous edition about two years ago but in general wrestling books in Dublin don't stay on the shelves for too long. Try Hodges Figgis, Tower Records and Chapters, you might get lucky.

    :)
TONIGHT after WWE Monday Night Raw, it's the first episode of the 1980s classic "Hulk Hogan's ‪#‎RockNWrestling‬" on WWE Network!!

Anyone watch Corey Grave's show. Hardly a show as it is only 9 minutes long. Not a comic book fan so it didn't sustain my interest. Gave up after about 4 minutes. Not good.

Cheers for the reminder on those places, man. I used to go into each of them when I lived up there, but only ever remember to go to Eason's when I visit nowadays.

Can you have the Network logged in on two separate devices at the same time? Thinking about getting it and splitting the cost with my brother.

There were reports that they were starting to clamp down on it, but I can still use it on 2 simultaneously.

Iwas in there recently but no sign of the Alvarez book. As I mentioned, books like those showing up are hit and miss. Still plenty of copies of the Jericho and Bret Hart books around as well as the WWE encyclopedic books.

There's a wrestling shop on top floor of Stephens Green but I've never seen new books in there.

Yes you can as I did it in work and left it on for the lads on a pc and was watching on my phone.

I'm a sucker for tournaments and the King of the Ring was my PPV of the Big Five Four but if They're not going to (at least) have semi-finals and finals in one night, it's just another tournament.

NXT has those all the time! :P

Ya, it should be spread out over time. And have a big blow off then.

I still marvel at the fact that this has all become available to us in the last 12 months.

I watched about 1 minute before turning off. Remember all that stuff that was too hot for tv that's already been on tv a million times?

    Awful.

My network is unwatchable on my PS4 it just keeps stopping. It works fine on my phone and ipad. I have a 42 inch TV and want to watch it on my TV but it's so frustrating

I don't watch the Network every night, but any time I have it's always been perfect quality on my PS3

So did anyone watch the Live With Chris Jericho featuring Stephanie McMahon after SmackDown?

Yes and it was as boring as corporate as you would suspect

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

I watched 10 mins of Jericho talking to her about how great the McMahon's were and went to sleep. Riveting stuff.

So it sounds exactly like the John Cena one then?

ridiculous! "the most controversial show on tv" my arse!

Ive heard more controversial things coming from fridge than Jerichos Podcast.

Im a huge self confessed Y2J mark but hes gone down in my estimation in recent times for being the corporate stooge to the McMahons.

Foley's stand up show was awful.

The best part of the entire thing was the camera pans to his daughter Noelle
