I was on the pumps just before Ireland held the Ryder Cup in 2006. "Whiskey, rocks". There you go sir. That was it the weekscoming up. "Can I've two Guinnesses?" Of course.... fecking hell. It's Michael Jordon. Told him that the pints needed to settle. You can take a seat there, mister Jordon. Anyway, he came here with Charles Barkley. Jordon was a lovely guy. He had an aura about him. He was great conversation. Barkley was an asshole.

    So jelly.

The pres is a huge Galway fan. But if you wanna meet him, visit a game in Dublin. Richmond park seems to be his favourite atm.

Tommy Wiseau (again, famous to me) - as off-the-wall as you would expect. Wearing multiple belts at the same time. Sunglasses indoors. Indecipherable accent. Threw a football at me. The works.

I've eaten with Snow Patrol. Met The Frames, Neil Hannon, Tim Minchin, The Magic Numbers. I'm good friends with Duke Special. Probably more but can't think of any just now.

I once met a guy who had a line in 90's US sitcom 'Home Improvement'. Do better than that, people.

Met Joey Dunlop in Dublin once many moons ago before his tragic accident. I was in awe tbh as the word hero gets banded around all the time about sports stars but the guy was a genuinely class act. Cameron Diaz asked me for directions in NY one time when I lived there, didn't know who it was until the girlfriend told me lol. Oh and that mister big guy from sex and the city came in and ordered a glass of merlot from the bar.

Met a few famous people although none would be my heroes as such.

Khloe+Kourtney Kardashian - Actually I'm not even going to lie...I love them
    Janice Dickinson
    Russell Simmons
    David Blaine
    Avril Lavigne
    Brody Jenner
    Geri Halliwell - Rudeeee
    Neyo

A few other American celebs but I don't think people would know them.

Met Gore Vidal at a dinner party. At the time I only knew of him as an actor - for his role in Bob Roberts.

If we're counting politicians, numerous Ministers for Justice.

Always liked Alan Shatter, quite a captivating public speaker.

I have a famous family member who is considered a bit of a dick but who is a really lovely decent person and sound as they come.

My friend from school used to date Ronan Keatings best mate when we were 15 so I met him a few times, nice guy.

I've met a few td's in a social situation and they are as bad in real life as they appear to be

Met Arnie on holidays once, he was lovely, no problems posing for pics

The only rude one I've met is a well known Irish gardener who was rude, rude, rude.

My sister met Karl Kennedy from Neighbours and he has wandering hands apparently

I was at a talk given by Ingvar Kamprad about his life and approach to business. I then had a quick chat with him afterwards at a wine reception held after the conference. In case you don't know, he is the founder of IKEA.

I find his story inspirational as in many ways it mirrors my own. He grew up in a rural area, came from a farming background, quickly realised the importance of education, spotted a business opportunity and went for it.

He used his skills and business acumen to develop IKEA as a brand and. I used my skills and talents to land a great job here in Frankfurt on the cutting edge of high finance.

I suppose one difference is that I would never buy anything from IKEA because of the generally poor quality and the false-economy of then having to put the thing together yourself.
Some of the Kamprad family do use the services of our firm for wealth management and strategic investment advice.

The more marked difference is that Kamprad is a billionaire who owns an globally recognised brand whereas you are a mere cog in the machine, albeit probably a relatively well paid one.

You're lack of perspective is hugely enjoyable. Please do not stop.

Ps. Do you think Kamprad lives in a flatpack adorned apartment somewhere? I suspect not. Pfftt.

I've met loads of rappers but I don't think there is much point in mentioning them here.

I used to be pals with Brian McFadden, in school together and generally just spent time ripping the p*ss out of each other and everyone else in our year.

Anastacia kissed me one time as well in a rather random out of the blue situation.

Seen Bredan O Carrol in cork many years ago and roared at him 'Ye big boll0x Brendan'. He nearly fell over from laughing.

He's nothing like you though is he. He's a millionaire entrepreneur, you're an accountant.

I'll be honest. I never met anyone famous. Whether that is sad or not, I do not know.

The word 'famous' is being stretched beyond its elastic limit in this thread though.

They are not household names, with the exception of El-P who is in the band called Run The Jewels that have a bit of fame now. Although I was an idiot when talking to him.

Also I was also trying to talk to Kanye in RiRa one night but his security kept getting in the way. I'm one of the weirdo's that has known about him since he was a 16 year old and was trying to talk to him about the artist he worked with, but security thought I was just trying to be another ashole in the long list of as$es that wanted to shout ramblings at him. Whereas he was trying to talk back before I was pushed away.

Aww no way, that sucks! So close and yet so far....security for bigger acts always tend to be a bit OTT.

I once roared "Hey, aren't you from Fairly Shitty?" at Nicola from Fair City when I was sixteen. Proud day.

    That sounds well stalkerish.

Legend has it that some local town lads once spotted Fergus Gibson on his way to the shops, they kicked a can at his head and yelled " Ya didn't see dah wun cummin, didjeh"
I'm sure they, like me, tell the story to this day.

And an active member of the Swedish Nazi party in his youth and continued to hold ties with them and their sympathies for many years after and a lifetime mate of a high ranking type in the Swedish Nazi party during the war and in far right movements afterwards. Thanks but no thanks.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Ah, so there are some similarities between the billionaire and our enthusiastic accountant!

If you were to refuse to speak to someone on the basis of what they did during the war, you'd probably end up only able to talk to one third of those who lived through it in continental Europe.

Most people mentioned here are not famous. I was at a hair's breath distance from Pep Gaurdiola but was too freaked out to shake the man's hand. Still annoyed about it.
Also cooked for famous people like the Blackburn manager, Julia Roberts, Munster rugby team, Ray D'arcy and his partner, Cork hurlers and Glenda Gilson if you consider her to be a celebrity.

I got to shake hands with James Hetfield (lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Metallica) :D That made my life complete :D

I met Shaun Crahn (Clown from Slipknot). He was a sound sound guy, gave me pizza and bought me a shot :D

Got to meet Adam Dutkiewicz and Justin Foley from Killswitch Engage, both really awesome guys!!

Got to meet Corey Beaulieu from Trivium on a number of occasions.

Met most of the band Children of Bodom. I actually met them more times than I have seen them live :pac:

George Fisher a.k.a Corpse Grinder from Cannibal Corpse. Chatted away to me and friends for about an hour about WoW, Star Wars and pretty much everything and anything.

Met most of Soulfly. Didn't get to talk to them that much though!

Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil wanted to steal my hat :pac:

Burton.C. Bell from Fear Factory was a pure gentleman!

And last but not least, Neil Fallon from Clutch. Pure gentleman and absolute legend :D OH and Mr.Fallon had an awesome conversation about cars and V8 engines :pac:

Some if not most of these people are probably not that famous to a lot of folks but they are to the likes of us who like to listen to metal/rock :D

In 1996, a few of us were in HMV on Grafton St in Dublin going down from the top floor. At the time, I think there was a section behind glass for classical music and I glanced in there while at the top of the stairs heading down and I saw Bill Murray i nthere. He saw us notice him and he left, but we were too busy nudging and incredulous to move so he passed us on the stairs. We all shook hands with him barely uttering a word as we were pretty starstruck. We were leaving anyhow and as we existed HMV we saw him head into the Burger King across the road. We didn't folow him in.
