Whats with all the Kinnegad hate? Someone on the "other" thread even had a rhyme for how bad it is!!! I think its a lovely little village. It always reminds me of relatives coming home from America.

    Dublin

Stop saying Dublin because its a large city. Has to be a town. What part of Dublin? I know there are areas in that city you would need an armoured division to get through safely.

I lived in Killarney which is a beautiful town. But even with that I was taken back by how beautiful Killaloe is.

Down the very bowels of West Cork: Goleen, Sheep's Head, Crookhaven, Barleycove. Then you have Skibbereeen, Clonakility, Inchydoney, Rosscarbry, Glandore. Kinsale is beautiful.
Up around the west coast of Donegal there are some lovely villages. Clare Island off the coast of Mayo. Salthill in Galway in the Summer going out towards Knocknacarra and the Claddagh. Absolutely stunning areas plus Clare: Lahinch, Ennistymon, Doolin, Lisdoonvarna.
Kerry: Killarney, Glenbeigh and the Ring of Kerry, Rosssbeigh beach in the Summer, it's gorgeous all year round, the views are unreal. Ireland is one of the most scenic places there is.

We are blessed with a long beautiful coastline in this country, so anywhere along the coast is good for me. Ireland is not known for great architecture in its towns and cities its more known for its scenic countryside.

Have to agree about Dungarvan, I think it could be an even more popular tourist spot if only promoted a bit better.
Mountains, beaches, fishing , great walkway/ cycling ( you can go from abbeyside to Clonea beach very safely ).

They do a fantastic job on the harbour at Christmas time in regards to lights and the fireworks display over the quay a couple of times each year, it would put a lot of major cities to shame.

The up and coming food festival starting on the 9th of this month will be packed.

"Best" is relative to the criteria, but if we're talking in terms of aesthetically pleasing, I vote Clifden and Roundstone.

People know that Dublin and Galway are cities, not towns, right?

In world terms, you could consider Galway a town.

    Adare
    Sligo
    Carrick on Shannon
    Clifden
    Galway city
    Ennis
    Lahinch

All have a bit of life and personality about them!

I live in Galway. Due to the size of the 'city centre' you would feel like it was a town. However when you add the suburbs, two colleges and the sheer amount of visitors/tourists it is definitely a city. Since the sun has come out, day & night there are people everywhere.

Still doesn't make it a city in world terms.

I used to live in galway. It's a large town. London is a city.

Was only in it for a few hours and it was a beautiful summers day but I thought Skerries was a nice town and area with Ardgillen and the coastal walk.

Around Killarney is nice, Killarney itself is a tourist tack-fest, hen / stag party central at weekends.

Kenmare, Co.Kerry is stunning. As is Blarney Co cork.
Most of the coastal towns around Dublin are beautiful , Dunleary , Howth, Dalkey, Killiney, Blackrock, Skerries and Greystones. All have such individual character.
