    Kinsale.

I live very close to Clonakilty; lovely atmosphere there. Gateway to some stunning scenery.

Terryglass is a magical little spot.

I love west cork and would visit more if it wasn't for its dire road network and nonexistent phone signal.

Lovely beach outside Dungarvan too, Clonea.
Dungarvan has good infrastructure for a town of its size, very clean and just charming.

Infrastructure is key for a best town.

Short visits to places where I can't be contacted would almost be a bonus for me.

No problem with the roads either; unless you're trying to reverse an articulated lorry backup a stretch you'll be grand.:)

Sligo, Carrick-On-Shannon, Westport, Derry, Dunmore East.

My favourite though has to be Bangor Co. Down

The coastline around there is lovely. The mountains are very under-rated around there too. I have superb memories of my time there.

I 99% agree with this. I'd take out Sligo and add in Union Hall, Kinsale and Kinvara.

I guess some of the above are villages instead of towns.

It's typical of the mind-set of AH that the worst town thread is a lot busier.;)

They also used a capital "B" for "Best" and "T" for "Town.
It's just a flashier, more eye catching thread.
Some people are born winners, can sell ice to eskimos, have the gift of the gab etc
OP is probably dying a lower-case death inside by now any way

There are quite a lot of wretched (pardon my German) shïtholes in the Midlands though that need to be mentioned.

Strandhill in Sligo is a nice place. Good golf course there.
