I might ask if that is that why Kerry people are so full of $hit? But I won't, as that would be rude. :P

Apart from the National Park with its lakes and woodlands, the Reeks, Mangertons and Purple Mountain ranges, the mountain passes like the Gap of Dunloe and Molls Gap, waterfalls like Torc and O'Sullivans Cascades, the outdoor activities like climbing, hiking, cycling, kayaking, swimming, golf on one of the great courses in Ireland, the castles, manor houses, the town park, the architecture like Pugin's Cathedral, the hotels, restaurants and pubs, the INEC, the various festivals...sfa.

Nothing. I drove all night from Donegal to Killarney once, ate a sausage roll and drove home

The less famous Roy Orbison B-side.

It's a nice town on the edge of the most beautiful scenery in western Europe with good restaurants nice pubs and some of the best hotels in Ireland.

But I haven't a clue what's so good about it...

Most of the stuff is free. Of course one has to pay for hotels or a round of golf, where it probably compares pretty well compared with other tourist Meccas.

Killarney town is tweefully bad. Most that other stuff is outside the shakedown of Killarney town.

The town itself is a bit of a hole and full of inbreds who've been conditioned for a life of ripping off fat American tourists.

Use it as a jumping-off point for the Ring and get out of there fast.

If you could name 10 finer towns of similar size in Ireland, I'd be interested.

It's not Venice, but compared with the Mullingars and Tullamores of this world, it's pretty darn good.

Either way, the topic title is not limited to the town.

The hotel, pub and Indian? You can take the man out of Dublin...;)

Did you not, for example, like the scenery?

I love Killarney, you hear the odd rumbling that the locals are a bit up their own arses, but I personally never found that to be the case.It is a great mix of locals and Tourists from Ireland and abroad.
Being a Town designed to cater for people it punches well above it's weight when it comes to dining and socialising-as was said earlier-compare it to any other Town or 12,000-14,000 inhabitants and you are spoiled for choice with activities and Concerts, something planned by the Town council and business' to make sure that whenever people visit, there will Always be something to do/see, of course your average mong here sees that as "gouging" or "rip-off"-well that's fine, stay away, better for all involved.

Who the hell cares if shops sell Aran sweaters and postcards of "Auld Ireland"-they sell it because it sells, people seem to enjoy buying it,would you prefer them to sell somthing that loses them Money? The exact way that I don't mind O'Carrolls or the Lepreuchaun museum in dublin sending out hoardes of people in lepreuchaun hats and tam o' shanters, people come and willingly part with their Money-tourism is an industry as many dolts seem to forget.

Finally,as to the whole thing about Calling the locals "imbread"(sic),considering the amount of English,Welsh,French,Dutch,German,Swedish,Spanish,American,Polish,Estonian,Czech etc. etc. people that have been living there for a long time-the genetic traits of your average Killarney person may well be more diverse than the accusers home areas.

    Killarney Rocks.

The lakes are beautiful and it's lovely around Killarney but I prefer other parts of Kerry like Dingle and Sneem.

The scenery and within driving distance to other tourist spots.

Na, a week later with a taco chip in Downpatrick.
Well, both Killarney & Downpatrick have railways. Might bring in a few extra shekels to Killarney I suppose.

I'm sorry, but it's just too easy.

There's no need for a comma in that sentence actually. I was being stream of consciousness like.
