    ...short people...

Excellent point. I am outraged at the presence of Richard Hammond on TG, who is obviously just a token to placate oppressed short-arses, and with his Liverpool accent and evident Hair Issues is taking the complete mickey into the bargain. Boo, poor show!!

Is it weird that in my head, I could hear Clarkson saying that as I was reading it?

The fecal particles, upon launch, travel so fast that you can actually hear miniature sonic booms as they descend upon their target.
This new scutter gun takes the old adage, "like *beep* off a shovel" ..... to a whole new level!

While it can most certainly be a lazy set of tags to latch onto and berate, both groups do exist to some degree or other. Forever parroting what they're told is right on to parrot. The permanently offended on behalf of others, the bedwetters numbed by any social commentary save for that of their fellow otherkin, the loudly first world "oppressed", the whingers, the whiners, the ever increasingly anal describers of any subgroup they deem "acceptable". Woe betide any they don't. In "debates" like this and they're nearly always storm in a teacup, first world "issues", I find it interesting how much the more rabid yay and nay sides come to resemble each other the more it goes on.

Those top gear lads are far from divas, throw them smokes / drinks / steak and chips and a bed and they'll be grand & happy. WTF was that Irish "producer" thinking a cold meat platter would do though? Incompetent idiot. No wonder he is hiding under a stone somewhere.

Hands up though - I haven't read this thread - kick me if I made a balls of my post!

Brigades exist? Well that's... vague. How does one define these here brigades? How he used it was lazy. And indeed you yourself earlier. Sorry, but it sounds incredibly thick 90% of the time.

Yes, there are extreme feminists, but when used in the mindless manner above, it's nothing but a buzzword that the user includes whilst slaveringly mashing the keyboard.

Nonsense. The term Feminazi rather succinctly sums up the likes of Zoe Williams.

Obviously hits a nerve with you when it's used but sure that doesn't make it's use any less germane. Heck if anything, that just shows how apt the term is.

Never mind the "extreme", much of mainstream "feminism" is a crock of the highest order, or do you want me to break down the paygap, patriarchy, rape culture et al into more easily understandable bite sized pieces for you? *edit* actually, no. Don't bother. It would be like bashing ones head off a foundationless brick wall. Life is too damn short.

Never said extreme feminists don't exist, of course they do. But it's a term that tends get bandied far more frequently than necessary with very little thought behind why the user is using it. It's just one of those buzzwords used to immediately shut down an opposing viewpoint.

If this man is not sacked I will go nuts.

What if you or I decked a colleague in the mush just because I was hungry?

Ah but yes, he is the biz, and it will be all forgotten in a few days, let the hare sit!

That fella is getting out of his box big time. Too arrogant. Thinks he is indispensible.

    You know what? He isn't.

In response to another, very tetchy passive-aggressive post (aiming for condescension to combat defensiveness). It's probably superfluous, and if you think it is, there's nothing stopping you from reporting it. But it was indeed a response. Appropriate? Maybe not.

Avoidance eh? Yep, all too common with the type, as positions retreat all too easily under any stress. Annoyed? Bless. Only if you spell it out as B.O.R.E.D.
    BMMachine wrote:

Because they assume that how they would react emotionally to any resistance to their position is how someone else would react emotionally. Projection in short and as I say, avoidance. Standard operational stuff with your sure of their position types, no matter what part of the cultural spectrum they ally themselves too.

Comparing Clarkson to Savile is like Godwin only more retarded.

I commend you for articulating that so eloquently :)

Because it has nothing to do with debate and everything to do with getting the dig in. Which I commend as it's something Clarkson would do in a heartbeat :D

Oh, so you agree that it can sometimes be "necessary" to use the term, yet despite that, you still say that "ANYONE" that uses the term "needs to be be shot with solidly compacted balls of their own sh1t". Yeah, that makes loads of sense. Lets be honest though, what you really meant was: that the user that just said it the post previous to you needs to be shot with solidly compacted balls of their own sh1t.
It's just one of those buzzwords used to immediately shut down an opposing viewpoint.
What? And saying what you just said isn't an attempt at doing just that?

Or how about saying that show is "lowest common denominator" viewing and that anyone who is a fan of Clarkson is "meatheaded". These comments from you not also trying to "shut down an opposing viewpoint". Course not.

Why are people so hung about some minor altercation between JC and a producer off screen over an effing dinner ? Does the Irish comment really irk you all that much ?

Yes the Irish comment does irk us so much. If you are Irish the comment should irk you as well unless you enjoy a spot of self-hatred.

Where do people get this image of Clarkson being some working class hero?

He is indeed, my mistake. Close enough though, accent-wise. He's well BBC'ed at this stage, but he slips occasionally with the odd "Ah'm off ta werch fer a big fat bastid!" moment. :D

If it was meant with any kind of seriousness towards Irish in general as opposed to picking the guy out based on his nationality, it was out of arrogance. Why should I be offended by someone else's foolishness? Also, how different is it to the many people who've posted in this thread about the jingoistic nature of the show and some of their pieces? If they were American it'll be complaints of too much "USA!USA!USA!USA!"

I don't mind the Irish comment. There is a difference between "You Irish bastard" and "ALL Irish are bastards". OK, I am German, but insert that instead of Irish, no problem.
So call me a German bastard and I will say "erm, yes, I am German and easy on the bastard".
As for working class hero, well, no, nobody would say that. It's funny how people have complained that he is a toff AND a working class hero?
Saying that Clarkson should be fired because he annoys people is just idiotic.
This is not about him suggesting buses should be sold and the money used to buy everyone a Ferrari, or him reversing a TVR's exhaust over some flowers to show us they where not affected by the fumes, comparing a Corolla to a fridge, crashing a Volvo on purpose because it was dull, etc...
This is about an incident between him and Oisin Tymon. If he is found to have acted grossly inappropriate he should face the consequences.
My personal theory is that he is having a bit of a Charlie Sheen moment. From his behaviour it seems maybe subconsciously he wants to be sacked.
