    https://www.change.org/p/bbc-hire-alan-partridge-for-top-gear
We, the undersigned, would like to see Jeremy Clarkson’s vacated role on the BBC’s flagship programme Top Gear taken up by Alan Partridge.

Alan has a strong track record for broadcast presenting, from his relaxed professionalism with guests on BBC chat show ‘Knowing Me Knowing You’ to his effortless banter on his talk shows at Radio Norwich. He has good experience with motoring TV, after his brilliant work on ‘Crash! Bang! Wallop! (What a video)’. His work as sports presenter on news programme ‘The Day Today’ also shows off his ability to talk about and inform on a range of topics.

We believe this diversity of experience and his noted passion for cars puts Alan in great stead to take over as chief presenter after Clarkson’s successful tenure. Mr Partridge is both capable of retaining what has made the show great over the years and adding a new and vital reenergised flavour to the show.

Ah no! It'll be nothing more than touring around Norwich.

Interview with the waiter who witnessed the incident.

Apparently May and Hammond have refused to film without Clarkson!

Saw it on reddit. Think its a bit like the Hitler video people use the clip and ad subtitles about whatever they want.

They know which side of their bread is buttered on by the BBC and its both, no more documentaries for either of these if they stand their ground. Its a bluff IMO.

Yeah, that episode about the Irish producer getting clobbered was priceless. :pac::pac::pac:

I was actually thinking it was a bit crap and am getting bored of it, only interested in the specials now. Its for that reason I'm on the fence about the whole thing I do enjoy Top gear but Clarkson really is an idiot trying to be a lads lad when in fact all he is is a privellaged antagonist who says things for a reaction

Top Gear is not too bad a TV series... Clarkson to leave Top Gear? And on that bombshell! GOOD NIGHT!

I really hope May and Hammond get behind Clarkson for support because if BBC was to replace him it wouldn't be the same, it'd be less authentic than what the current three have. The replacement would be out to prove themselves and May and Hammond would have to accommodate them by also trying hard to seem like they like the guy even if they didn't. It'd just be bad for all involved so they should go all out in support of Clarkson since the three of them would allow a lot of negotiation power.

Even if BBC said fuk it and replaced them all they could all start a new show with Sky or ITV any way, these guys are too big to not come back.

Richard Keyes and Andy Gray were big, where are they now?

Thing about it is, would the other channels funnel as much money into it as the BBC does? My guess is probably not. Saying that, it might force them to actually review cars again rather than larking about in a shít heap in some desert.

For the returns it generates? Quite possibly.

I don't know though if maybe other stations can't really match the BBC technically.

(And obligatory lol at the "It used to be about the cars, dammit!" at the end)

Premier league football will exist, no matter who the presenters are.
I turn down the sound of RTE because of the complete idiots that do the match commentary on European football.
    I still enjoy the match.

Top Gear however, without Clarkson, May and Hammond..... Not so much unless they do a complete different show and basically only keep the name.

What's odd is the fact, it's reported that he apologized to the BBC and he has said he regret the whole thing but I haven't seen any reports suggesting he apologized to the Producer. If it was out of frustration after a long day and nothing else, you'd think he'd rush to apologize to the guy

He probably has taken legal advice to not apologise to the producer as that would imply he was guilty. Sort of like how if you have an accident in your car you are not supposed to say it was your fault even if you were changing your contact lenses at the time.

True, although from the reports there were several witnesses, even outside of the Top Gear production crew.

At the point the reporting is getting very muddled. Some are suggesting Clarkson had not been drinking and it wasn't just the food, that they Producer was a constant f*ck up and it was the straw that broke the camels back.

But it seems that somebody on the production crew suggested the reason they didn't get back for their dinner reservation is because the cast refused to go back and stayed in a pub. James May said he didn't see anything and was blind drunk at the time of the incident....

I'd bet the true story will never come out. There's a lot of damage control going on

Seeing as 3 steaks were made after the altercation (apparently), my guess it they were also hoping for a hot meal and Clarkson was the one taking the hit for their collective hunger.
I told a black lad once there was a slope on a pool table and not to waste his cash on it.
We shared drinks and laughs as we watched the stationary cue ball roll slowly downhill on said table.
I am dead sorry to the people of Africa and the Caribbean for the racist inference. No OED to hand at the time.

Seeing as the intended slur is against Asians, as in slopehead, then apologising to the people of Africa and the Caribbean is not needed.

It's still mind boggling that people can call Top Gear a scripted show and then curse one of the actors for saying his lines.

True, so we have to look at his actions that happens when he is "out of character" rather than on the show. He seems to have abused someone working under him verbally and physically when he didn't get what he wanted. So this is in fact worse than his character he portrays on the show.

Not doing a very good job: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/jeremy-clarkson-threatens-legal-action-over-jimmy-savile-comparisons-10115471.html

Whatever you think of Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear fans (and the Leftists in this thread have used terms like "racist" "spenk" (whatever that is) "boring middle aged balding dullards" "scientific illiterate" among just a few choice insults) I am sure we can all agree that a comparison to a prolific child rapist is bang out of order.

Reports had suggested when Clarkson started the yelling. May and Hammond were mortified and looked very uncomfortable and slouching away. Then when it was all said and done they sat down with him.

Also said the Hotel Manager cooked him\them Steak Sandwiches.

On the plusside, if they ever re-make Fawlty Towers, they'll have a great idea for an episode

Wasn't that internally though and it's Clarkson that blew up over it? He's not a child rapist but the similarities of him being in with the Prime Minister and being a PR nightmare for the BBC is pretty bang on, no?

The producer would be above the actors so technically he hit his boss, not the other way around.

Agreed, if they are actors. They are however listed as presenters in the credits so while they do act in the show, with lines, they are still presenting the show. Do you feel that he hit his boss?

Yeah......something tells me if the Producer punched Clarkson, he'd be gone. In fact, a family in the hotel said they heard Clarkson claiming he was going to get the guy fired.

Didn't sound like there was a boss, employee relationship going on.
