If you don't mind my saying so chief, it sounds like you're something like a priest in a hoorhouse in either place. :pac:

Nah, I don't do preaching. Can't be bothered dragging a soap box around with me all the time.

I didn't grow up with McDonalds and Burger King, though. They were around, but my parents never took us to either.
So when I first had a bit of pocket money, I wanted to go and se what the fuss was all about - boy, did I regret that! :D

A lot of the time they do yeah. You'll rarely see one where there isn't a McDonalds near enough.

Oh I know man, was just messing :)

But what bold strategy it is, declaring that you're the completition by setting up shop in the building next door! Aldi and Lidl are playing the same game Dunnes and Tesco. :D

I'm not a major fan of fast food other than to get pizza/chips or couldn't find decent grub somewhere/after a night out but if having to choose be Mc Donalds. Usually went there when I were younger.

Supermacs is way better than either of them. Much nicer burgers and chips and they do proper burgers in Supermacs too.
I used to eat the odd time in Mcdonalds but ever since they threaten,d to take legal preceding,s against Supermacs over them expanding oversees I have no interest in them anymore.

    You're deluded.

Supermacs inhabits the same culinary space as a white chip van with a diesel generator, outside a ground on match day.

Not saying BK or McD's are a byword for foodie excellence, but the quality of their fare is patently superior to Supermacs reconstituted Otter anus in a bap.

I'm not one for burgers really. I do prefer the bigger chips I remember Dunnes use to do really lovely ones. Think supermacs did that too. A lot of the fast food places I used to go after nights out have closed down in one town I used to head out in. Locally they still all there but not as many as they would been in other towns near me. I prefer wedges over the chips or those freshly done in a restaurant.

Have to disagree, Supermacs is at least on par with McD's or Burger King. That's not saying much now but at least Supermacs also does PapaJohn's pizza.

I prefer mcdonalds, big macs ftw.

Supermacs is superior to both though.

Supermacs burgers? Really? Don't think so. Shnack Box FTW.
Whopper is a million times better than Big Mac, it actually has recognisable bits on it like onions, lettuce, etc... the toppings on Big Macs are nowhere near as good.
But all are better than Abrakebabra, shredded tires and shoes with cabbage and ketchup.

I'd like this settled AHers . Ive recently had a few burger kings, having eaten mcdonalds for years due to proximity and a lack of burger king in the area, but now there's both on my doorstep. still undecided as to which is better.

mcdonalds seems the more publicised and noteworthy brand, and i like a good big Mac and mcnuggets. Burger king have a lovely smoky taste to their burgers that MD sorely lacks, but the fries are bland and measly and their whoppers unremarkable, but still fairly enjoyable.
Fries are not suitable for veggies in MC donalds. ( I know go figure)And the fries are the ONLY thing you can eat in Burger king. I usually end up in there with friends occasionally. I just get a drink and watch them eat :-(

As anyone used the word "Mindfulness" yet on this thread?

    Supermacs burgers?

The smokey bacon burger is divine, one of the nicest burgers you can get even including burgers from restaurants etc.

Definitely prefer the big mac too over BK burgers, suppose I never really ate in burger king growing up or in college as there was none in Galway city but would hit mcdonalds once or twice a week for lunch so would be much more used to mcdonalds stuff.

Laziness and cheap convenience trumps quality, every time. Quality is boxed off and priced for the wealthy whilst the lumpen masses settle for industrial rubbish in brightly coloured packaging as there isn't enough of the good stuff to go around.

Eating dirt, served by zero hour serfs. Tremendous.

Advertised by a clown, because that's as clever as they think you'll get. Every now and again they change the colour of something, squirt different flavouring into the sauce to keep you happy and mask the taste of the bleached animal ars3holes you're happily quaffing.

Got a shamrock shake in McDs at lunch for the lolz. Feel sick as fcuk now.

This is the only bit I have a problem with, and any outfit that does that can go jump as far as I'm concerned. That aside, mmmmmmm - animal arseholes... :D

If you have a taste for trans-fat and offcuts of beef dosed in sugar and salt more power to you.

I remember the international chain in Belfast, suppose I can't name names, which had a young girl die due to an a faulty hand dryer. Out celebrating her A-Levels if I recall correctly. Would have been sometime around 93 or 94.

Fckers opened up for business the next day.

The Burger King has been deposed by a coup comprised of beef burger fundamentalists. A provisional government has been installed by the zionist Mcdonalds.

nothing like a fast food thread to bring out the huffy snobbery in people :)

Fries, mozzarella dipper-type things, smoothies, ice creams, milkshakes and any coffee-based beverages from McDonalds. Bean burger from Burger King, and maybe also their chilli cheese bite thingies.
I don't seem to like anything from Supermacs.

Fries are not suitable for veggies in MC donalds. ( I know go figure)

They are. In Ireland they're fried in vegetable oil and don't have the beefy flavour stuff that they used to add in the US. Biggest issue is that the smallest McD's might fry them in the same vats as the fish products, which may be a concern for some veggies (or not, since all their fish products are coated anyway). The larger restaurants have separate vats for the fries. :)

Burger King's burgers are great, but McDonalds beats them in pretty much every other aspect, in my opinion. Overall I'd generally choose McDonald's, but every now and then I get in the mood for a Burger King burger, they taste a lot more like a real burger than the stuff out of McDonalds.

Note that many traditional chippers here use beef dripping to fry the chips.

The only thing I like from Burger King is the Bacon Double-Cheeseburger.
    Their fries are disgusting.

I love a Double Cheeseburger and fries from McDonald's though and would go to McDonald's over BK anyday.

I'm a McDonalds fan, moreso since I had to meet their specs on a freezer(for work) for storing their products and it was top-notch, spotless and designed to be kept that way. We've also done maintenance in some of their restaurants, back in the bowels, where usually restaurants are nasty, dirty affairs in my experience - ie under counters, under sinks, up above the ceilings etc - The McDonalds ones were all totally clean and tidy.

Whatever about the food(and I like a Big Mac and fries with a coffee) - they keep their premises clean. That goes a long way for me. Some restaurants are filthy kips, regardless of how their food tastes or nourishes.

Took a trip towards Kilkenny today with my kid.

Whatever about the food I have to say that the McDonalds just outside of Kilkenny is class

Tablets for the kids and a play centre

Sit down and read the newspaper...chill out for an hour

And the two of us have lunch for less than a tenner

    What's not to like?

everything in burger king has a weird after-taste plus its very expensive for what you get

loads of places in the states like five guys, in-n-out, fuddruckers, fat-burger that blow away the big two. even carl jrs is far superior to burger king
