Whats the deal when a car isin't listed on the VRT website? Ring em?

Get an average of tbe OMSP of the specific car from SIMI dealers from websites such as Carzone.ie
Then get the corresponding %VRT rate by checking what CO2 g/km it has.

With this % of the average OMSP should give you a rough estimate

If the Revenue then ask for more you can argue your own estimate by the average OMSP you got from SIMI dealers and if they ask for less say nothing

    What car is it anyway?

Out of everyone I know that have imported cars, not a single one paid the figure the calculator gave. Some paid a tad less, most paid waaaaay more.

My Dad's E200 would bring a tear to your eye with the figure. He's exempt but I think it's something like €11k.

Unless you want a particularly rare GT86, going to the Uk is a waste of time and a waste of a lot of money.

I could have bought new over here for the price of mine plus VRT and costs. I couldn't tell you the price of VRT on a standard GT86 but I'll pm your the VRT on a TRD.

Do please if you wouldn't mind. I will be looking to buy in the future just not sure what I want yet. Just working out the maths at the moment.

Not to mention the dreadful Euro -> Sterling rate at the moment

The GT86 has a 181g/km CO2 rate therefore it has a VRT Rate of 30% of OMSP.

Whatever and Whoever decides the OMSP is the tough bit!

There's one for sale in Waterford by a Dealer for 38,250.

So, 38,250 x 0.30 is far too much VRT to pay (11,450 to be precise)

So it seems my intercooler is fecked :( theres a massive boost leak somewhere and its all pointing to that, the other culprits are the gasket between the turbo and manifold, the wastegate or the turbo piping itself

Jesus you do not have good luck with cars do you. Are these the same things that caused that noise you were hearing?

Fella is trying to send a parcel via courier to me from the uk. First step is to enter destination postcode. Nothing will work, 0000 eire 1234. Any ideas?

Parcel Motel, might be cheaper even with their 3.95 charge

N/a or none normally works for me. But some do want an actual postcode.

Put County as postcide or leave blank.

If it's a small parcel consider using parcel motel.

For instance bought a set of second hand RS injectors this week, Postage to ROI by weight would have been 18 sterling, instead a small UK internal charge 2-3 quid and parcel motel charge so 10+ quid in my pocket

Think he overcame it. Postage is kind of out of my hands. I suggested a postage option to him, so im assuming he went with that

Jomo Engineering has a snap on set up, uses UV etc will find anything! Also won't harm sensors like a lot of the other machines.

    Here is his no. 085 745 3129

    Based 4 miles from kinnegad.

I know its hard to tell much from a photo, but how does this 3 year old golf engine look to you? (49K miles on it)
Doesnt look great to me, quite dirty, is that a cause for concern? How would a engine get so dirty.

That pictures look fine the dust wouldn't bother me. However for all we know it could be leaking oil underneath the picture doesn't show that. 1.6 tdi engine I assume.

Galway drivers are prIcks! Any of ye that know the tuam road out, was behind a taxi crawling at 60 in a 100 zone, just past the rugby club, at the straight stretch, I go to overtake, and he floors it as I try to pass him. Got past anyway and he goes back to his 60. Coming up to the clare galway lights, a car in front of me holds me back, and said taxi goes in the bus lane, still stays back though, until it comes for the bus lane to merge into the traffic, he floors it so that he gets in front of me!

He went off another road then, but a few miles further up the road a superb was going about 75 in a 100 zone. Straight stretch nothing coming, broken white line, I go to overtake, again they floor it, took me at least 120 to pass them. In the process of me returning to my side following the overtake the white line changes into a hatched section, superb driver then has the cheek to flash me about 7 times. I was forced into the situation because of your child like behaviour and then you have the cheek to flash me? Ugh I don't know.

Road was clear for the rest of my journey so that was something!

Sounds to me you were the erratic and dangerous driver.
As a safe driver you should foresee such circumstances and not to take chances when broken white lines are about to change to continuous.

I would be ashamed of myself if I drove like that, not to mention writing about it.

    Please don't generalize either!

He wouldn't have to think about the broken white line changing had the drivers not decided to floor it while he was over taking.
I've had people do the same to me, it has to be one of the stupidest and most dangerous things a driver can do.

Obviously not all drivers from galways are bad but certainly the ones he mentions are morons. Based on what he's told us, you have no place to call him dangerous and erratic.

    Are you serious?

I know this place is gone to the dogs, but I thought this was one thread that was safe from the high horse brigade. Obviously not...

Step back from here from now on I think.

Agreed, the other drivers were dick heads, not him.
Can't believe someone could say that it was the OPs fault

Let's not forget how he generalised Glanza drivers in another thread, then goes on to ask not to be generalised here...
The guy is either a hugely naive hypocrite or he's a troll.

I often get a few flashes for overtaking dawdleballs on straight empty stretches with broken white lines.

The first few times you wonder is it because you had misaligned lights or foglights on that annoyed the person while you were behind them but after a while you just realise some people hate being deprived of the chance to hold people up. Begrudgery is a way of life for some people!

Yes it is those types of drivers that cause all the accidents. if they want to drive slow so be it but do not get annoyed and speed up when somebody is trying to pass. Also noccy I have a solution for you. buy a more powerfull car. :pac: :D
