Not true. I picked up a data SIM in Arthur's Quay, Limerick and it doesn't have a phone shop.

My bad....but I did qualify this with the "at least didnt"! Thats what Tesco support told me at the time. Their support number is 089 4200000

It's poor service by Tesco to make it this difficult to buy a Data Sim in Store.

They should be available everywhere, or at least put up a list of stores on their Website which are selling the news Sims.

It's worse than that. I went into Arthur's Quay late on a Saturday night and was told they were waiting for stock. Went back on Monday morning and there were loads of them in a locked cabinet right behind the person I had spoken to previously.

Late Saturday = part timers. During the regular working week = full timers! :D

I should have a huawei e5332 unlocked with a 15 euro topup for sale soon on adverts. It'll be 40 euro, pm if anyone is interested.

    Decided to go UPC instead

The 'Light' is now just 3GB over 90 days - was that always the case?

You can still get 15GB 'Heavy' for 30 days for €15, but for 90 Days (€15 also) is now just 3GB for the €15.

Does that mean it's just 1GB a month?

Was going to get it for one of my parents, as they would use very little when taking their laptop out but 3GB seems very very small indeed.

Yes, see post #5 on this thread, it's intended for light and infrequent users. Won't suit everyone.

Hi everyone, I am having problem with getting my tesco mobile broadband working. I have Huawei E5520 unlocked (originally it was Meteor) dongle. I have topped up my tesco mobile simcard, tried to change APN to both tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com and tmidata but neither of those ia working. I have roaming on, sim is active but still cant connect to the internet. Any ideas anyone? Thank you

Did you buy the data plan? One month or three for €15. There is a talk to tesco mobile forum on boards too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 magramush

Have the data plan, have the 3g signal on the interface but the WAN symbol says disconnected, tried everything to get it going... It's so frustrating. Cheers I'll look into that

Tesco mobile have apparently texted users of the 15GB/€15 PAYG broadband that the allowance will be halving to 7.5GB. This on top of increasing their out of bundle call charges to 30c and texts to 14c means TM have gone to the dark side of late!

I wonder has this anything to do with 3 mobile taking over O2?

PS the 50GB/€30 month contract no longer seems to be on offer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,225 ✭✭✭padyjoe

Yep I suspect the same thing: 3 clearing their portfolio up. I wish O2 had bought 3 not the other way around! They're the worst provider in this country! None of the providers saint though.

I have a Tesco mobile phone and last month bought the 15gb for €15 (plus €45 for the mobile modem).

Has anybody shopped around for better deals as Tesco don't seem to be offering much value at the moment.

bought the modem and took up the 15 euro for 15 gb offer only 3 weeks ago. got the email today to say it would be 7.5GB from the 9th of april so will be looking for a new provider.

Disgrasfull the way Tesco treat there customers. By the way there is a legality which stops vodafone/o2/meteor putting up prices on old plans . What makes Tesco so special they can get away with this . Complain to comreg . The more of us do the better

That's strange, as i saw a reply from Tesco on their forum y'day, that only the out of bundle's were changing!

The price isn't changing, just the allowance? That could be their way out...

why not make the allowance zero in that case....

but your honnner the price hasn't changed !

all terms must remain for the duration of a contract... if there is no contract terms can be readily changed.

ya pretty crappy about price per GB increase but it's still the best value mobile broadband around, as far as I can see

They are also raising prices on calls and texts...

Got this text during the week...
"We have updated our pricing for pay as you go customers. From the 4th April our new rates are 30c per minute for domestic calls and 14c per domestic text. For more info see tescomobile.ie/pricechange"

The BEREC workshop warned that prices would increase after this merger - I guess they were right. There's a link in the Irelandoffline forum with the youtube video.

Meteor give me 7.5Gb of 4g and free calls for 20 a month of PAYG.

(Choose two from three of calls, texts, data)

Thats not actually any better than TM. €15 top-up gives you free calls and that €15 equates to 7.5GB of data if bought as part of the 5GB/€10 add-ons.

TM are going to have claw my 15GB of free data for life with a €25 top-up out of my cold dead hands....

    I see.

I guess the 4G part is unique then.

I may look for a better 4G deal in the future.

EDIT: The 3 deal looks way better as you get to keep the 20 euro top up whereas with Meteor it is gone the second you top up.

As a flat per month cost yes. At €15 they are the cheapest from waht I can see. But for per gig 3 offers the best value with 20 gig for €35 working out at €1.75 per gig. Tesco is €2 per gig.

4G is rather expensive to roll out so the physical operator (3/former O2 in this case) would generally be reluctant to offer it to a MVNO for a decent price.

Was the same in the UK - they've far more MVNOs than we've ever had - when 3G was coming around, the MVNOs had 2G only for years after.
