Went veggie this morning. Fried halloumi cheese, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, poached eggs and toasted slims.

    Meat feast this afternoon! ;)

Please tell me how you poach your eggs so perfectly. I adore poached eggs, some come out ok, but I have NEVER poached an egg that looked as perfect as yours!

Big discussion on C&R a month or so ago about how best to cook poached eggs. Loads of different opinions/ techniques.

I've used several different methods, the simplest that seems to work is:

    1. Fill a small pan with a couple of inches of water. Bring to the boil.
    2. When the water is starting to bubble, add a tablespoon of white wine vinegar.
    3. Gently crack an egg (the fresher the better) on to a saucer.
    4. Stir the water to create a whirlpool. (This step seems to be optional but if your egg is not very fresh, do it!)
    5. Tip the saucer of egg into the swirling water.
    6. If poaching more than one egg, when the water stops swirling, break and then tip another saucer of egg in.
    7. Poach for about 3 mins depending on size of egg.
    8. Scoop out with slotted spoon, drain any water off and season with salt and pepper.

    Good luck! :)

Home made (not, I must emphasise, by me) cinnamon roll. 2 slices. And some of the cinnamon sugar mix has burst out and caramelised the bottom of the roll. And I cut the slices myself so they were verging on doorsteppers. Heaven, I'm in heaven...

Croissant with a poached egg and a rasher. With a big feck-off smoothie. Won't have time for lunch today, so that should keep me going.

my everyday breakfast is 1-3 cups of tea(depending on how much time I have), and a half sesame seed bagel with butter..... I can't stomach anything heavier before 11am!

Inspired by this thread, this morning I had a toasted bagel with real butter, asparagus wrapped in parma ham and two poached eggs. Still struggling to get them right

    Sure :)

    350g self raising flour
    1/4 tsp salt
    1tsp baking powder
    175ml buttermilk
    85g butter
    2tbs caster sugar
    Egg to glaze
    Oven 220

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Rub in butter to breadcrumbs . Stir in sugar and then make a well. Add buttermilk and bring together quickly using a knife. Turn out onto flour and with as little handling as possible bring together and leave about 3cm thick. Cut out and glaze.

Place in oven for about 15min.

    Yumm :)

In keeping with the buttermilk theme, buttermilk pancake, griddled banana and a little bit of caramel sauce. Damn you husband and your decadent breakfast/brunch notions!

Slice of cold pizza & coffee. Heading out for brunch early this afternoon so this was my (laughable) idea of a light, low hassle breakfast before going.

If putting cheese in, I'd leave out the sugar.
