Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I've been having problems with Minecraft crashing on me, but it happened on Simgle Player too. Probably has more to do with the Windows 10 Technical Preview I'm running, even though Microsoft are using their newest acquisition when demo-ing Win10.

    They might've rolled out the XBox version for demos as it's written in C++ (I think) which'd be FAR more stable than anything written in Java. I'm sure Sun's working on a Win 10 Java, but it might be a while yet before it's finished.

    It looks even better in person!

    Meanwhile, I've been rerouting the railways and cleaning up the "eyesores". The Circle Line (a.k.a. The Scenic Route) now runs underground on the north side of Spawn, with a temporary feeder line that comes up just outside the Gift package. The underground is partly a glass tunnel under the sea, some of it will be widened further in future.

    I get that surface railways are a bit old-fashioned, what with nether travel and teleporters being available, but there's something about the process of building them that makes it a nice way to relax on the weekend. You can ride the whole Line in under 5 minutes, but it's not all about getting from A to B ... :cool:

    Just found this excellent tool, which works kind of sort of like dynamap? It gives you an overhead view of your seed and shows you what all the nearby biomes are, as well as slime chunks, villages, desert temples, etc.. - www.mineatlas.com

    Upside is that you don't need to do hours and hours of exploring, and it's not a server plug in - you just type in your seed or load your save data. Downside, it doesn't show you where other players are.

    It's probably not a good idea to hand out the map seed. You can use it to find biomes and monuments and all sorts of things. Takes the fun out of it :)

    1.8.2 is being released today - one kind of important change is that the usual methods for breaking bedrock are now patched - growing trees and placing beds on tall grass no longer work. We'll need to find a new way to get to the roof of the nether :(

    Yeah, I had to go and read up about it. The roof apparently has all the advantages of the Nether - 8x travel - with none of the disadvantages. It's perfecly flat and mobs only spawn in spawners, which is good for farming. I saw a video that points you at a specific point in the Nether where you could exploit a glitch: jump in to a minecart, jump out on to a ladder and up on to the roof.

    I've been doing it in my single player world - it's really convenient for making rail travel in the nether. You just plop down the tracks straight to wherever you want to go, no need to dodge ghasts and lava.

    The minecart trick still works, and the other (easier) way is to just spam ender pearls at the bedrock roof, eventually you'll glitch through.

    I presume some clever people out there will find the new way to break bedrock, but until then, :(

    Well actually, I was trying to make a creep tumor. You're gonna want to watch out for that creep...

    Speaking of which, want to play some co-op 2v2 some time? I still suck ass, but I've won a couple of ranked games! I did six pool both times, I don't think my opposition were happy..

    Pomp - I accidentally damaged your Guardian Dispenser. When I went in there, it was so heaving with Guardians I was getting about 1/2 fps. Tried to harvest a few, couldn't see what I was hitting, they all came out and then I was dead. I went back and got my stuff, and put the dispenser and button in a chest.

    Yep - I was able to retrieve my stuff, and get out just as a few more spawned. The lack of water seemed to be no problem whatsoever.

    Someone double-tapped the button so a load of water dispensers were out of synch. While the farm was turned off a few water dispensers stayed on, spawning guardians. It's all fixed now.

    I've been meaning to finish that farm. I just got it to the point where it was functioning and then abandoned the project.

    A lot of them 36 sacks are from me testing it (I don't want them)

    I think you have to stand a minimum distance from the water for squid to spawn.

    I believe I have found the problem. squid farms need to be in a area with little to no water and the area u built it in has a lot of water. I am going to try ina desert and see if i have any success.

    All Minecraft Realms are hosted by Mojang, who periodically reset the server (not the map).
