He is a freak of a horse the only thing that can beat him is himself.

Complete machine, I had a decent bet on him for the champion last year so looking to at least double my lost stake from last year. Will be there to cheer him jumping the last in splendid isolation, if I can control myself I will video it.

If any bookie goes Evens on Tuesday it'll be max bet 10e and time restricted. Can see her going off 4/7 or 1/2 if she turns up on the day now that Aurore D'Estruval is out. GL

Quevega was invariably odds on (4/5-8/11) during the week before the race but some bookie always offered Evens (or even 5/4!) on the day of the race. I expect the same to happen this year. Obviously, limits could be a problem but if it's PP, with €50 or €100 limit, you can get a good bet on with a bit of effort.

Id be slightly worried about Annie Power being caught for pace if its good ground. Lunique looks value at 16/1 if the ground is good. That said AP should win, i'm just slightly put off but a possible lack of kick..

Anyone know whether Djakadam will run the Gold Cup or the other race it's listed in. Looking to back it as part of an E/W accumulator but might avoid if he's in the big one against Silviacano Conti

Betfair have Cue Card enhanced to 8/1 today.

This is decent, as a cover bet for backing Don Cossack

    Gold Cup

    Gold Cup

Okay. Thanks. Might throw a sneaky E/W for the craic. Only a cursory follower of racing really, but have been impressed with Djakadam everytime I've seen him.

I would be surprised if Annie Power doesn't win the mares on the snaffle given the ease at which she demolished Zarkandar over the distance last season.

No mention of bobs worth at all this year. Surely 14/1 is a huge price. Was giving a tame ride by geraghty in the Lexus plus didn't jump great that day either. It was only last year he jumped the last in front and got spooked up the run in then by veering to the left. He's being quietly campaigned this year and in a wide open gold cup is worth a e/w punt. Especially at those odds.

I'll start that on the 9th so - I reckon il do the bet 5/6 times!

Free bet is good with me! As I said if he falls they can cover my bets for during the week!

Boyles free bets don't return stake in any winnings AFAIK.

It's the same offer really as they do when money back when 2nd as a free bet up to 25e. I got the free 25e bet, put it on an evens shot and won but didn't get stake of free bet back. 25e returned to me. Only the winnings. Beware! Check it up before going around to a few Boyles.

The one I really like for the mares is rock on the Moor Jessica Harrington seems to think highly of her and still available at a very good price will shorten by next week

Gigginstown Top Owner @ 9/4 worth an investment? Strong team this year

Think you could have a point there! He ran a great race last year but just faded after the last! Would you not be concerned about his Lexus Run though? Never seemed to get into it!
Took the 8/1 cue card to win with betfair last night and wait for me in the bumper 15/1! Will probably back moon racer for the bumper too just going to shop around for a price! Reckon them two would be wort a small reverse forecast too!

Yes read that myself. With CC out Johns Spirit is fabulous value at 8/1.

Will go with johns spirit now too! Any one know if that 8/1 special on betfsir was nrnb?? Very sneaky if not
Edit: I seem to have got a refund anyway! Feel very sorry for the tizzards they haven't had much luck since the betfair in November 2014

Just so everyone knows, John Spirit is 0-3 on the New Course at Cheltenham.

I'd personally be very, very disappointed if he was good enough to win the Ryanair.

Pity about Cue Card , hidden cyclone could back into this yet.. He was very good here last year.. 16/1 looks the best value on offer.. Not convinced by the fav ..

TDS is absolute standout. How people are bypassing him is beyond me particularly his course form. He ran races over a distance that didn't suit all season..with cue card out its opened up even more for TDS and DC to fight out

Jonjo intimated he might go handicap route with TDS given he's now only rated 154.

But surely ap would wanna ride taquin in this seeing as richie rides johns spirit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭frank93

Hidden cyclone into 8/1 now. Don Cossack has to be the bet in this for me. Still think 7/2 is a tad big on him.

Can only see on the day. If they think he's a shoe in for the handicap and only an outside bet for the Ryanair that might sway them.

Not sure how credible below is

@TheBettingSpy: "@GetYourTipsOut: BREAKING: @JonjoONeill has confirmed that Taquin Du Seuil will go for the Ryanair Chase. http://t.co/fDRi0NzF9Q" Excellent

    16/1 with ladcrokes, 12/1 nrnb with bet365..

Yeah I agree with you here. I read recently that the Shark has never had a grade 1 before? He was travelling so well last year that he might think (even though he has the form for 2 miles this year) that this is a better opportunity for him than the Queen Mother.

I'm on John Spirit from a while back and I agree that it would be disappointing to see a handicapper win a big Grade 1 like this, he will be tough to be out of the first three I think. However with the concession of NRNB I'm certainly taking a punt on Hidden Cyclone at 12/1 as well.

Its not the best of races to be fair. Johns Spirit has done nothing but improve this season, don't think he got the 3 miles in the King George but ran an absolute cracker off top weight in the Paddy Power finishing ahead of the likes of the classy Oscar Whiskey who you would think would of being one of the market leaders if he wasn't fatally injured at Sandown.

Looking at the Gold Cup there, its a real head scratcher of a race. For some reason I think Smad Place will go very close here. His trainer Alan King is a shrewd operator and it wouldn't surprise me if he was left a bit short last time out when just being beaten by Many Clouds who was giving him 8lbs that day. He ran a cracking race around here last year in the RSA and I expect to see huge improvement come Friday week. Currently 20/1 with PP.

Hardly original but Don Cossack looks rock solid now. Surely going to go off at around 2-1 considering whats behind him in the market. TDS looks likely to go to a handicap, Johns Spirit is a handicapper with no course form, Hidden Cyclone and Champagne Fever not certain to line up here, Balder Success has fallen and unseated everytime hes been to Cheltenham and skipped the festival last year to win at Aintree.

I cant see much of a threat from the rest with the exception of Ma Filleule who has a great chance and a mares allowance. For win purposes id rather have the Don at 7-2 though
