Quick question, lads.. The bulbs behind your instrument gauge (speedo, etc.) are they difficult to replace?

The Focus (mk1) has the centre bulb missing, but it makes no real difference, as everything is still clear enough. I think there are three bulbs, one on the left (rev gauge), right (speedo) and in the centre for better general illumination.

But the one on the left is gone now, too, meaning it's more difficult to accurately read the speed, and I can barely make out my revs at all (at night, at day it's fine, obviously).

Should I be bracing myself for a pricy fix? :o

It's an easy fix. There are 5 screws (3 top, 2 bottom). Out comes the cluster and disconnect the multiplug for it (can be awkward disconnecting it). Just ask for instrument cluster bulbs in any motor factors and they'll have them.

I love the arguments used by the local solicitors. Dressing scumbags up as good decent people, a bit like Jimmy McGill

I always used to love this one

"he comes from a good family"

That used to be used as MITIGATION - haven't read of it being used recently)

Now forgive me - but surely the fact that you come from a good family should reduce the chances of you being a naughty boy in the first place.

    :mad::mad::mad:

    Other beauties include

"he has stayed out of trouble with the gardai since the incident before the court" - like WTF - many people managed to stay out of serious bother with the Gardaí (apart from minor things) for THEIR WHOLE LIVES - not just for the 6 months before a court case

"he is looking to turn his life around and is signed up for a Fas course" (WELL DONE).

Should you not mention in the ad the model / year. What I mean is say suitable for bmw 5 series year 20xx - 200x. Maybe I'm overthinking it but there is plenty of bmw 5 series owners who wouldn't even have the slightest clue what an e39 is or to search e39 radio if there 5 series needs a radio.

There's a guy In my course that's on his second e60 and he wouldnt have a clue what an e60 is he could probably tell you it's a diesel 5 series bmw and that would be about it :pac:

The way I look at it is that people with E60's and F10's won't even consider it seeing as they're standard radio is an iDrive system or one with a screen. The radio is way different looking to any other chassis in the 5 series.

Your kind of missing my point there is plenty of people that drive e39 bmw that don't know they are e39. I know you radio wouldn't fit newer models. But chances are whoever is looking to buy a standard BMW radio cheap probably isn't going to be a Car fanatic ie probably won't search e39 radio they will search 520 or 5 series radio.

I did mention the build date for the car, being 2001, people should be able to gather it from that.

My point is if I type in 5 series radio or 520 radio your ad isn't coming up. I have to either search just BMW or search e39 radio. So if you throw into the ad will suit 5 series 1998-2004 (I'm making up the years there) and then through in something like suitable for model including 520, 525, 530 by doing this you are broadening the search but still keeping it relevant. So that way it will come up for people who don't know what an e39 but just type in 5 series radio the ad will come up.

I **** you not, its was around my town in Co. Cork for some time. Was driven by some "darkish" decent foreigner lad. I cringed every single time I sow it.

On other topic: I sow tonight a freaking amazing Mx5 mk 2.5 in white with nice tasty body modifications and nice rims. I want mx5 again! :( I miss my old one! :(

    I did 400KM yesterday,
did you ever have a day when your car is going like a train, you're passing everything in sight and you just want to keep driving?
When I got to Dublin last night I didnt want to get out of the car, if I didnt have to work this morning I'd be in Cork now or Donegal ;)

In other news I drove G Daltons S4 the other day, what a machine:D

Yeah the whole world conspired against John Paul for the 85th time running. But he's definitely turned over a new leaf this time your honour.

Folks, is it possible that a dodgey spark plug can cause fuel to mix with oil?

Just took a spin from Newcastle west to Limerick city and the car has never driven so well. New spark plugs have definitely solved the chugging issue. Thing is the old ones didn't seem in bad condition and weren't in it that long. I'm a bit embarrassed that it was only a spark plug causing all this hassle but happy as a pig in shìt at the same time. Seriously, it drives like a new car. Even had a friend who knew about the chugging issue take a spin to make sure.

I would of thought that the unburned fuel would go out the exhaust port down the exhaust rather than down into the sump. The only way it would get down into the sump would be if the piston deal was on the was badly worn I could well be wrong though the last time I learned about engine internals was junior cert metal work :pac: ah I had one module in college that touched on it.

You'd be right. I can't see how a spark plug would cos petrol to go down the engine.

I'd be thinking along the lines of piston seals/rings.

If it was petrol on top of the spark plug then yeah something not right with the plug but not the sump.

Thanks must go out to dgt for helping me out today, car wouldn't start and key code light was flashing due to my own stupidity last night. Talked me through how to sort it out and I now have a working key again.

No snow here in Mayo. I was walking the dog around Cong without a jacket it was that warm lovely heat off the sun, and this is from somebody who feels the cold very easy. There was snow capped peaks in the background though.

There was snow for about a half hour in Clontarf earlier. Roads were slushy.

    Stopped now..
