If only it was a Ryanair that diverted.

"Dear passengers, we will be landing at Dublin-Shannon airport soon."

No ambulance available, we have requested one from Dublin Fire Brigade?

Is that not piss poor for a international airport?

    That is really bad.

    Someone should contact a paper.

I wouldn't be surprised if journos read this forum for stuff like that every now and again. I doubt they'll be on this thread though.

This thread is their most valuable thread! All emergencies and incidents are described, often in detail on here.

Sure I even give them their headlines!

It does perhaps sound like something that might, might, warrant journalist attention depending on the actual circumstances. They report a load of toss anyway.

If I wanted to run any local event I wouldnt be allowed to start said event without a ambulance in place.

But these guys can Fly+Land jets etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,179 ✭✭✭✭fr336

I assumed that airports just phoned up the ambulance as anyone would and let them in :o I can understand having fire cover on sight, obviously, but wasn't aware of the ambulances.

I think every airport should have an ambulance on site, even Waterford with 3/4 flights a week.

There's only 2 ambo's in DUB airport, most of the fire personnel are EMT trained, one of them will go to the aircraft whilst waiting on DFB, not unusual for the 2 ambo's to be out on call on a busy night with approx 14,000 (not all on duty at once) staff and then pax also.

Maybe there was only one (it's midnight) and they didn't want it going to a hospital.

Ambulance was called from Swords when needed, should have already been there in my opinion.

I think airports effects on economies are often underestimated. Having a hub airport has a large effect on a city. Dublin airport employs almost 1% of Dublin's population.
