I read plenty of the chat on this forum and i'd say plenty of ye who look down on the fella in the bookies are not in the 20%, ye know for a fact, who make a profit, or was it 5% in the latest survey that followed two minutes after. Anyone who doesnt gamble online is a mug? I'd imagine the fact it is Paddy Powers highest growing market blows that idea out of the water. There are degenerates in society, who through maybe their own fault are not as well off or capable as others, but seriously the way some of the posters here go on you'd swear they should be segregated. I can go into a bookies and write out my slip for a fiver and no one bothers me. If they do, i'm capable of being polite and moving on. Does it annoy ye that they go on about McCoy, Geraghty, et al, because you want them to shut up so you can tell them how clever and clued in you are? You're Irish (i'll assume) that means you're middle class at best, get over yourself. Back to Cheltenham and trying to break even and have fun at the same time.

    Very well said.
Can't say i've never sneered at comments from characters in the bookies(or posters here ;) ) and it is rife here at times but the above is 100% spot on.

I would say less again smart people back online. I can;t understand how anyone serious about gambling doesn;t shop around online and also not avail of guaranteed prices online.

The ironic thing being that if people can freely back and shop around in their own name online, they are a mug also.

I will agree though that a pc, oddschecker and a full list of accounts is a much better starting point for someone than heading to the bookies. Young lads these days are getting more clued in in this respect tbf

Love it! And these on line guys are the same ones who cant't watch a TV without scrolling an iPad at the same time. At least the fella looking the worst for wear in the bookies is capable of having a conversation without having to google 'how to have a conversation' first.

TBH I might be described as a "mug" but I prefer the shops to online now. I still have online accounts but don't bother with them much now. My problem was that I found myself backing on markets that I never usually would. It wasn't even a case of losing what I couldn't afford, more a case of a lack of discipline.

Online is still a handy tool, but I mainly use it for forthcoming events such as Cheltenham if something catches my eye. I don't really use it anymore for day to day backing and I'm a lot happier for it.

Not everyone has that freedom online as they know who you are and restrict your accounts. I'd be more worried about someone who can easily get the best price online without issue.

Edit: sorry early morning here think you were making the same point in the first paragraph

Abbyssial is entered in three races. Anyone got any idea which one he's most likely to run in? I'm guessing the Coral Cup but hoping for the World Hurdle.

Hills offer of money back as a free bet all losers in the Supreme up to €25.

Free bet to be redeemed in the Grade 3 Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase.

    They can shove it.

I'm sure they were planning one of the handicaps but now that he has been allotted a mark of 156 the WH could be a possibility. Once again the majority of Irish raiders got screwed by the English handicapper.

On a side note two of Gigginstowns horses, Edeymi and Roi Des Francs, look well treated. GL

I'm still hoping they run Pont Alexandre in the Coral Cup, has 11-1 (at the moment!)

What's more annoying for the lad is that he has no chance of holding on in the jockeys championship now.

Care to explain the succient differences between being at home with the telly an ipad against being in a bookie looking at the racing (including computer generated) on a bookies tv while looking at the Racing Post and another tv waiting for odds for the race you are interested in.

In any case these guys in the bookies probably cant afford ipads or tvs.

I really feel sorry for someone who thinks a conversation with another person who just backs a jockey or the fav is a better proposition than a conversation with your loved ones or housemates.

    This. Weird assumption.

Betfair and Bet 365 are NRNB on all races still some value to be had i.e. Snow Falcon 40/1 for the Albert Bartlett as short as 16/1 with PP.

Apparently Geraghty's booked for the ride in the Rsa so that would suggest it's the plan but maybe they've a good amateur provisionally booked for the 4 miler too and will decide a day or 2 beforehand. Fat lot of use i am to you really :(

Does anybody try grab value opening accounts with new sites. I just looked at the list from attheraces http://www.attheraces.com/topoffers/.

Some good offers but their are a good few sites i never heard off so it's putting me off setting up an account.
