don't know why, but really looking forward to the game this weekend. Have a good feeling about it, no van persie and Wilson will force van gaal to play rooney up top with falcao. Mata hopefully will start the no 10 role, with di maria Herrera supporting and blind at the base of the midfield. think we could finally click this weekend, we owe some team a proper hammering. Im going to go for a 5-0 victory

I would love if this happened mainly cause im going to it but sunderland are there to be beaten, in terrible form and fans arent happy so lets hope united make them even more unhappy

LvG probably afraid Nani, were he to play for us down the right, might do something unreasonable, like take on his man, pass the ball forward or cross the ball in.

Why would they be in touch anyway? E has scout reports?

    Seems childish.

Not even convinced of that myself. Id much prefer to see Thorpe given a chance ahead of him. Hes a far better defender. Shame he isn't left footed it seems!!!

I think Blackett will make a better left back than centre back. His versatility is something LvG will like anyway.

Not sure what their source is, but physioroom still has him as no return date.

That just means they don't know anything. Physio Room have no inside sources on these things.

Physioroom go by information written by people with "inside sources" to save us the hassle. So basically no one knows anything outside of the club.

he left the ground on crutches and in a protective boot so going on probability, you could say 95% chance is he wont be playing this saturday

Dare I say it.. could this be the weekend we get Mata playing off Rooney up front? With two wingers and two central midfielders.. in their actual positions?

Yeah I think he simply hasn't the intelligence or ability to read the game that a centre back needs.

He's an accident waiting to happen in possession, always has been a liability in that regard.

It's so crazy that what you are saying probably won't happen even though it seems like a pretty solid plan.

    Team I'd like to see:

    DDG
    --Raf-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw--
    Blind

    Hererra----Di Maria

    Mata

    Rooney--Falcao

I'm pretty much 100% sure we wont see that though... definitely not Raf anyway!

Although I'm about 99% sure Falcao won't be signed, that would really be the final nail in the coffin for him for Fellaini to start over him, especially with RVP and Wilson out.

if you swap raf for valencia and fellani for mata or falcao i think that will be the team

Nani interview courtesy of M.E.N. here

In this article, it doesn't mention anything about LVG not contacting him. That's probably because M.E.N. are only choosing the quotes that are positive as regards Nani returning.

LVG not texting/calling him isn't the biggest deal to me though. He probably said all that he had to say to Nani before he departed on-loan in regards to "no regular playing time currently guaranteed, go off and find your game and we'll talk later." Louis has his plate full with the players currently at the club.

The fact that Ed is maintaining the lifeline between Nani and the club is important. Ed, despite criticism, is clearly a man who makes things happen as regards incoming players. It is normally he who makes first contact with players/their agents after indication form the manager. All it would take is a simple "It is important that we maintain contact with Nani, there are good reports from Lisbon" from LVG for Woodward to act on it.

Even if LVG has not mentioned Nani once, Woodward is aware that Nani is currently a Manchester United employee who has found his form again while out on-loan, and could be maintaining contact for this reason alone. I reckon if the club did not want Nani at all and were hopeful of Lisbon taking him permanently, there would be no contact of this type at all. Woodward doesn't seem the type to waste time in letting someone down gently; The situation he oversaw last year where Moyes found out via the press that he was sacked was ruthless, as were the reports that Ferdinand was told very publicly that his services were no longer required.

In short, my hopes for Nani wearing the red again are higher than they were a week ago.

I don't think I'd agree with this part. Nani is a multi-million pound asset to the club, still has a few years on his contract. Even if the club wants rid of him you'd need to suss out where the land lies regarding whether he'd accept a move to Lisbon or somewhere else.

I suppose 'no contact at all' in this case would be unusual for the reason you mention there. It is clear though that if he does end up with the option to come back to United, these texts/calls from Ed will have been important in keeping us favourable in Nani's thoughts. He seems to want back to United more than anything, rather than use his recent renewal of form to spark interest from other top clubs.
