Sorry lads for using the term street footballer. I won't use football terms any more in a football forum

Might be watching Dortmund tear Juventus apart and realise Reus is a better player than Di Maria. . .

Use whatever terms you like, but if you can't explain what they mean when people don't understand, then you're sort of just making noises. That's all.

If you are asking whether I would have either of them over Welbeck, the answer is clearly No.

I explained earlier, but I didn't think I needed to explain a fairly basic and well known football term

 Why bother when you're wrong? I'm right, you just don't know it yet.

To be honest Gary Neville put it best, if the club wanted to maintain a high tempo 4-4-2, they wouldn't have hired Van Gaal.

I would have imagined there is a plan of development for the squad. And high on that is getting the play style nailed down in the first season, so that subsequent seasons it's not an issue and is second nature to the squad.

This is a coach with big experience, and a pretty good track record in the Champions league. I can see the logic in what he is doing. Suffer the growing pains now, get back into the top 4, and next season have the players settled with the systems and his demands, that will be suitable for both domestic AND European style football.

I think he also has to stick with his plan, as it will show those who are not suited to his style and demands, and they are the targets for removal

This actually reminded me of a book I read The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg (good read.

In it was a chapter about Tony Dungy NFL manager who, with lots and lots of practice, taught his players a small number of important moves they could perform without thinking, even at the most crucial point in a game. Bad habits are overcome by learning new routines and practicing them over and over again.

He took an under preforming team and even though they struggled in their first season in his 2nd they lost out in the plaf-offs eventually winning the superbowl in his 4th season.

Obviously NFL and football are different sports but the point is if you trying to instill a new way of playing or "philosophy" it can take time for the players to fully understand it and even longer to become unconsiously competent in it.

Nearly every team LVG has managed have struggled somewhat in its first season with him but we should still have plenty of hope that given time he will get it right

Tony Dungy gave them the habit of having Manning as a QB alright which pretty much guarantees you a winning record and a playoff appearance, course he tends to **** the bed then unfortunately for him.

Dungy was a good coach, but they certainly underachieved under his stewardship overall.

Give me Reus over Di Maria any day. Both wonderful players, I just feel Reus is the better in my opinion. I suppose we don't know what he would've cost had he left Dortmund?

    Reus isn't dead or retired??

And judging a players talent based on money is stupid.

I think too much emphasis is put on the FIFA team of the year.

David Luiz made the team after his travesty of a world cup.

Clearly what we need to do with a creative player like Di Maria is teach him a small number of important moves that he can perform without thinking.

Conditioning, thats whats needed for these expensive yet volatile attackers. Remember Sammy Jankis!

My point at end if day is that we have a wonderful player in Di Maria.

A CL winner and World Cup finalist and huge in both, but yet we are talking about him as if we could have done better.

We bought one of best players in world. End of.

Regardless of how good he has been in the past, we've paid 60 million for him and he's obeen terrible so far for us. Whatever about his poor performances there's no excuse for poor work rate. He really needs to toughen up to make it in the premier league. So far he's been getting knocked off the ball all too easy.
