    but we don't live in North korea. We have free speech and media are allowed and should always to truthfully report the truth in these matters. Our beef is good enough. Our farmers are more than good enough and we need a processer that won't fcuk this up for us.

    I have a pbr lim cow that I'm culling, I reackon she is around 650-700 kgs. I will be factoring her myself. She is very muscely so I would hope she grades well. Should I try to fatten her up more or flog as is? Roughly what is she was worth? Thanks.

    This day of the year I would wait for the grass. Nothing like a dry cow to put on the flesh in April may. If she's a good straight shapey cow 700 kgs She be worth 1250 now?

    There is a point in trying to change things. We need to so that there is open competition. Larry is going to grind every new meat plant into the ground as long as he's let. He's pretty much our main go to with cattle and needs to keep it that way in another twenty years time farmers are still going to be at his mercy unless something is done. We're slaves to him at the moment but hopefully there's someone out there that has the finances and stones to take him on.

    I've one the same to go. A third Calvers that threw a dead calf. Around 650kg il be expecting around 1350 through the ring.

    Look we all know larry cant be touched at this stage.

    The ifa cant touch him . He even has the competition athority on his side.

    Its easy say nobody else is willing to take on processing or exporting beef . The reality is they would be taken apart by whatever means necessary.

    This is ireland where nods and winks and brown envelopes are the order of the day.

    Maybe ranglers right ,were getting beef into america and now china so thats positive. Lets just hope we dont fcuk it up irish style.

    If it was me I put her to grass she could make 1500+ by late June.

    Expect no further price increases in the next 4-6 weeks "supply has met demand" was the way he put it.
    I've a small lot of heifers for off next week. He'll give me a quote on Thursday.

    That's complete s€&it quote, would of been bad a month ago, got 3.45 fur o&ps last month, sell them in a mart, or to me if ya want, I'll give ya 1.65€/kg live

    cant see anyone of the US factory owners trying to knock him out, i think theres only about 6 at minute afaik, videos of production methods, slaughtering etc and chemicals used in meat washing to eliminate certain strains of bacteria, arent allowed to be published ,nor are video evidence of their labour recruitment adverts in Mexico and transport arrangements through US "customs", so probably if irish beef probably sourced in S America does appear it wont rock the boat in my opinion, as long as its packed in Irish owned factories , imo as international beef factory owners they are probably on nodding terms already with each other and, with the regulators, as long as he is not in competition sourcing beef animals. its that area all beef factory owners target for profiteering, easy targets, best pickings no political backlash, if US factories take action, its irish beef producers will suffer, imo certain financial insurance guarantees are in place to protect factories," in the national interest of course"
    i dont expect a backlash as witnessed by Chocolate manufacturers against Cadburys or McDonalds against Supermacs

    She got blooded alright but it's only the one to get her through the mart. The dead calf was down to me not keeping a tight enough eye on her. I ordered a Moocall this evening so hopefully no more of that.

    The ffers have them back 5 cent. And cattle are being threw them. Starting to reduce number of days kill and talking of another pull next week. The games have begun ladies and gentlemen..

    Yea in Dawn yesterday at lunchtime and it was nearly full for today at that stage there getting all they need.

    One thing I did see was a load of dry cows there which were going to be cut a lot as werent finished - I just taught it was a shame as they were good framy cows that if they got grass for a few months they would be worth a good bit more!

    Could be a restricted herd.. But nothing stranger than folk as they say. was talking to vet yesterday telling me of under fleshed cows being hung up that within weeks and sometimes days of calving.

    It was like that in the days of the premiums. As soon as the last 'punch' was drawn, cattle were sent to the factory, fit ir not. It just didn't make sense to feed.
