Always portrayed as poor and drunks . What's the real story of the modern Aboriginal?

Mode note: the term "abo/abbo" is consider a slur against Aboriginals; stop using it.

I recently read something that said they're poor and drunk.

Mostly confined to reservations in N.Leitrim these days. A reclusive people, and very fond of Lidl Ham. I think the whole "drunk" thing is just rumor-mongering.

Aboriginals? That's an odd name. I'd have called them Chazwazzas.

    No, they're not.

They're the indigenous Australians, had their lands taken off them by the settlers.

They didn't even have fences up so who is truly to blame?

So they have things taken off them and travellers take things, complete opposites

Was it not often said Irish travellers were landless labourers/small farmers turned out on the road during the famine??

    Wow.

Sorry Ill rephrase that. They live animalistic lifestyles.

One example would be rooting through bins for food

I met some in a bar in Alice Springs once, great lads.

They were treated like dogs first and foremost. Your post is offensive. Have a bit of decency.

I know first hand experience of how they act and how they are treated. I wasnt trying to be offensive just telling the truth

In Melbourne some of them lie on the roads so they can steal cars and then drive off until the car runs out of petrol. Some are often knocked down by people and the police dont really care

Seems like a bit of victim blaming go on here.
You think they enjoy rooting through peoples rubbish for food? I doubt they do that out of preference to buying normal food.

I'm nearly sure that has been established as fact, although the Australian gov might deny it.
There was also a big scandal uncovered recently enough about the treatment of aboriginal people in the 50s and 60s,very similar to the mother and baby homes. It is true that rates of alcoholism, unemployment, domestic violence, drug use and other social problems are significantly higher amongst the aborigines, but they are a marginalized community, they mainly live on reservations away from the rest of the population with little or no integration with the rest of the population. As such, they are left to their own devices essentially, and often harbour a deep distrust of outsiders, especially police.
Law and order quickly breaks down. This is not just unique to oz,the native American reserves in Canada and the gypsy towns in central Europe have the exact same issues.

Contains this unnerving line of text.
This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it.

Also they tried to breed them out of existence.
