Looking at how Snedeker is striking the ball and his GIR stats for this week, it's hard to imagine him being outside the World's top 50 right now. Not for long hopefully.

Why is it that the coverage is so bad in the US? Do American golf viewers not want to see lots of golfers hit lots of shots?

Actually no. They want to see an awful lot of a small number of players. That's why the camera will linger on Tiger scratching his nose, rather than show what else might be happening and why they are endlessly searching for the next "star" to hype.

US TV is all about ratings, so they go for lowest common denominator and they are pretty shameless about that. But Pebble Beach is a particularly bad one because CBS treats it as a celebrity "fun" outing more than a serious sporting event. They also use it to promote other CBS shows, hence you see a lot of Ray Romano etc. It was pathetic to see Feherty prostitute himself, conducting silly interviews but he has turned into more of a quirky entertainer than a golf commentator.

It does get a bit better on Sunday when most of the amateur stuff has been cleared out and they have no choice but to show golf. However the coverage will be very selective and very much aimed at the US audience.

Very tight within the top ten, think Furyk is vulnerable in the lead and there is 8/9 under out there from the chasing pack.

A hoping it will be Snedeker or Perez as have them backed but have a feeling Watney might sneak it. Should be an eventful evening with many players really struggling once they get their heads infront this season

Furyk down on the beach :)

That was an interesting observation on the drop nick Watney took on the 6th.

Would have thought that it was an illegal drop myself with him keeping the head cover on.

Well done Watney on second place.

Snedeker worth a few beans for the masters I'd say.

Delighted for Snedeker and not a "thank my lord jesus" in sight.

Well Snedoker gets it ......seems an OK guy, and it gets him in to the Masters. Nice.

Snedoker climbed from 63 to 31 in the world rankings thanks to that win last night.

Snedeker plays with a burner driver from 5 years ago his putter is ancient too. They are worth about $34 together !

Love his pre-shot routine or lack there of. Quite refreshing to watch.

He had a pop at some players on Twitter last week too

"It's amazing how fast tour pros can play when the threat of darkness and an early wake up come into play.. Wish that was the norm.."

Delighted to see him win, he struggled last year with injuries.

    Lowry uses that driver too

Just shows if you've a club that works you should stick with it

The featured hole today at The Northern Trust Open is the 10th. You can watch it live at pgatour.com The 10th can be carnage for some...:D

Goosen turning back the clock, great to see him fit again, playing great stuff, should end the day with a 2 stroke lead.

Sergio described this par save as one of his "top 3" in his career and it's easy to see why.

What a stunning shot from the sand... downhill lie in the bunker, 4 iron which he has to initially get up over the lip infront of him whilst keeping it below an overhanging tree limb ahead and then needle through a small gap to the left of that camera tower and put a lot of cut on the ball.

It was a great shot, followed it up with a rubbish pitch shot, made the 15 footer to save par though.

Garcia off to a flyer today, has caught Goosen already.

Cracking back 9 in store here. Really tight leaderboard with some quality players up here.
Hope my man Sergio can get the W.

Not as bad as the Indian open today, with top shots and snap hooks. But some really strange shot from Bae and Goosen from the fairway. Not to mention the s***k from Casey
