This thread has inspired me to make a toberlone and Bailys cheesecake tomorrow, not strictly a cheesecake in the traditional mode but very nice.

White chocolate baked cheesecake! Tis the business

Recipes for cheesecake should never contain gelatine. The filling is supposed to be a fluffy, light but rich, cream cheesy substance, not something with the taste and texture of jelly that's made up with milk instead of water. That type of cheesecake is disgusting and close to vomit inducing. Real cheesecake is to die for!

Buttery base is better than greasy base.

Baked cheesecake is utterly disgusting in my opinion. I tried both restaurant fare and home-baked and the contents tasted like curdled milk.
My mother makes a truly amazing classic Bailey's cheesecake. Might go and nag her to whip one up over the weekend.
Also, I love a nice home-made banoffee pie myself. My aunt does a mean tiramisu too.
    Feck, now I'm hungry!

EDIT: If you fancy a swift death by Diabeetus, this is my go-to recipe!

But the base must be crunchy and not soggy, otherwise the cake is ruined.

And anyone who produces a cheesecake with a soggy base, deserves to swim with the fishes.

    Stilton cheesecakes are the nicest.

I only like baked cheesecake. The other ones are basically like a mousse, and unfortunately it's what you get mostly in Ireland if you ask for cheesecake. If I want mousse I'll ask for mousse. Gimme the crumbly creaminess of a proper New York baked cheesecake any day.

I make incredible cheesecake. No gelatine in mine, I use heavily whipped double cream stirred into the cream cheese to keep it firm. Essentially, my cheesecake is a heart attack on a plate.:D I've never had shop bought cheesecake that even compares to homemade.

I have had the most amazing baked cheesecake made for me by a fellow boardsie. I have honestly never had a dessert like it. It's one of those desserts that will either go completely wrong or else be dangerously good. There is no middle ground.

I don't like tea, but I do love cheesecake especially a baileys one🍰

    I'm nervous :o

Yum! You'll have to post how it goes.

Can someone ban this poster? For the greater good.
People are giving out about putting bananas in cakes but think cheese is okay? And what use is tea? All it's good for is burning 6 month old babies. :( I'll stick to Old Fashioneds and warm apple tart with ice-cream thanks.

If I wasn't stricken with the flu right now, I'd whip up a lovely apple pie ala mode. This thread makes me want to bake up a storm!
BTW, what's the verdict on Lidl's apple strudel? I quite like it!

Never tried it. However, I did try their lemon cheesecake and it was horrible.

Ok cheesecake lovers, I have a very important decision for you to make (for me :D)

I took a notion a few weeks ago to make Toblerone cheesecake and bought everything I would need, including a buttload of Philadelphia cheese. I then went off the idea (also I ate all the Toblerone :o) and now said cheese is nearing its expiry date.

Basically I have to make a cheesecake this weekend for no reason. What flavour is the best and therefore the one that I should make?

    Definitely Baileys!

Aldi's apple/rhubarb crumble for me! Also flu stricken at present :(

The only cheesecake I like - and this is stretching the definition of cheesecake a tad - is Tiramisu'

LOOOOOOVE cheesecake. I'm a dab hand at making lemon and strawberry cheesecakes. Can also make a baked oreo cheesecake but I'm not mad about it. I have tried malteaser and toblerone cheesecakes but they haven't turned out right for me and were expensive mistakes!

Best cheesecake memory is having new york cheesecake in New York itself many years ago - we ordered it as room service one night and the 3 of us (son was only 4 at the time) sat on the bed around this plate and devoured it! No other new York cheesecake has every compared to it!

A bakery on capel street does amazing raspberry cheesecake brownies.

    Camerino I think it is.

    yum!

Was never a fan of Tony Quinn and all that lark, but years ago the shop he had/has in Eccles used to sell the ultimate cheese-cake experience...any time I've had cheese-cake since it has never come close.

So, did anyone make a cheesecake at the weekend?

I did slight change on my original play, made a Bailys and crunchy version, I would say it has about a Google plex of calories in it.

I would make it again but its more of a dinner party type cheesecake as opposed to the have a slice with a cup of tea type.
