you're still inside the box- how quickly did we finance the international finance system?-or is that passe now?-are bankers just 'ordinairy blokes'?-trillions of dollars was given to a select few whilst Brian Lenihan stood at the 'Gates of Hell' and passed out the names and addresses of every Irish citizen to the malevolent forces reigned against him-"here-they're the ones you want to see about retribution"-please avoid men in suits-it wasn't their fault.I believe this year is the year that bankers are to have their beloved 'bonuses' restored-I presume you're okay with finding funding for that?

And what about the normal people whove broken their backs to build up businesses from the ground into profitable viable businesses that maybe worth alot now? why should they be hammered even more on their personal finances so anto in ballyer can have more dole or deco can go to the doctor for free coz he has the sniffles. This whole "workers" & "class struggle" is very 1918. Its easier for people to progress thgrough life now all they need to do is work hard and put in the hours. Success and a good lifestyle doesnt come easy but do it and get the rewards

Again you assume that I'm overweight,poor and lazy but I have my own business and have never been out of work for more than a month or two-I agree that people who work hard should get rewarded but there are plenty of people working ever harder and just moving backwards.

But I didn't -I am saying that anyone who sticks their head above the parapet and questions the status quo is immediately labelled-socialist,begrudger etc.But that attitude is also reinforced by our unwillingness to check things out a bit more -I've done it myself-there are loads of great minds out there who want a change-just go and have a look and when they've convinced you have a look at the opposite side's view.

Two prison officers in hospital and a violent criminal on the loose but St. John Lonergan still taking a softly softly poor lads view of how hardened criminals should be transported. He fudges it by saying really hard cases should be transported under increased security but he is adamant not for the vast majority of prisoners.

This show has a feel of the early eighties about it , lent , gardeners spot , bullcrap Gaa banter , Sean sounds like he's going to choke when the topic of gay marriage comes up, the whole tone of the show just gives the feeling that it's well past its sell by date, he was better just doing the news programmes, he's too 'old fashioned ' for the magazine type pieces, I'm sure retired techers love it but I presume RTE need more than those to make up the audience ?

I'm not sure it's just a question of pay, this problem seems to be a Europe wide problem, in France there are loads of villages in the country that can't get doctors to replace GP's who are retiring or leaving, a comedy film was even made about it over here.

It's well past time we started demanding some pay-back from those who have benefited disproportionately from the largess of the taxpayer. It's downright ridiculous that the ordinary working person is paying to train doctors who then abandon the country for greener pastures the second they are handed their qualification. Why not a provision that final qualification is dependend on completing X number of years in general practice in Ireland?

I was thinking the same.

Unfortunately for Alan, there might be no party left for him to lead by the time the job comes up.

Also, how young did he say he was when his family's house burnt down. I didn't catch what age he was but seemed very young by the sounds of it.

He sounded in danger of overplaying the impact of the fire on him personally at times. I've no doubt it was terrible for them but it was a long time ago. Every family goes through bad times but they don't bring them up years later. I know he only mentioned the fire in passing and only went into detail when probed on it further by O'Rourke, but he would probably be advised not to mention it at all in future.

People are very quick to pick up on any perceived sympathy seeking ploy, (remember Royston Brady and his father's abduction) and it doesn't wash with the public. Rightly or wrongly, we expect our politicians to address our problems, rather than tell us about theirs.

If we applied that logic ,we need to keep all the engineers , architects , quantity surveyors etc etc etc who have ' abandoned ' the country to earn a living wage in Australia, there can't be one law for doctors and one for other graduates just because doctors are needed more.
