    Consider Listeriosis. Needs prompt treatment.

She fully recovered . Alymicin for 3 days and bottle fed her liquid life aid and crushed sheep nuts . She went about 5 days without eating herself.

keeping the sheep fully hydrated is as important as meds

I had triplets born last night and it was a disaster , I checked her a 4 and the first lad was out and smothered in the cleaning .
The next two were well tangled and I ended up pulling a front leg of one and a back leg of the other ( I thought I had them sorted but I should've taken more time ) . I got them sorted anyhow and out but one of their back legs isn't right now . He is putting weight on it but its floppy and not keeping him upright . I dont think its broken but maybe I tore muscles or something .
Is this a common occurance and is it likely to heal or is he goosed ?

Probably muscles alright, They usually sort themselves out after a few days, keep him well fed and ewe in individual pen so he doesn't have far to get teat

    +1

It's a lamb like that now that'll come good and be your bet lamb - lambs can be hardier than you'd expect at times. :)

I know losing one is sickening, but triplets are a pain, unless you can foster one on.

Thanks razor , I was up there and tubed him with a drop of milk and he is using the legs a bit better but they are still weak . I'm hoping its not as bad as I thought first .
I think I was a bit greedy/naive buying triplets but at least I should have plenty of experience of tricky lambing after it !

Try a bit of physio as well if you can find the time. . shame the comfrey isn't out yet, a few new leaves would help. Best of luck.

    Keep us updated,

The missus brought him to the vet this evening , he has torn ligaments but he said he will be grand if he keeps walking on it . Gave him two injections for the swelling and pain .

got a ewe down with meningitis since saturday, she's on steroids & noroclav,

no great change one way or the other,

wondering is it best to get her put down or is there any chance of her recovering

If there's any chance it's Twin Lamb Disease.... a bit of glycerine won't hurt her either way.

What breed were they David? I think I read somewhere that it only affects white faced breeds, but maybe that's not right?

We have sheep on sweedes... all twins and due to lamb on the 17th... we have mineral licks out with them but 3 went down during the week they were sort of siting down with there legs spread as if they were trying to get up. We brought them in and gave them calciject they are coming round now nicely. This is our second year with sweedes and never seen this before. Just wondering if any1 here has come across anything like it or any bit of advice ?
