Bull running and bull fighting should be banned. It offers nothing but danger and cruelty.
I have a couple of bulls, they are dangerous animals, they are quiet but there is the saying 'never trust a bull', they could just take a notion and it is not hard for one to kill a person.
So intentionally putting oneself in harms way is just highly stupid.

Is the bull ok? I hope it's ok.

    Shit happens.

Very easily from now on I'd say with a damaged sphincter

How does deliberately hurting animals for entertainment purposes even remotely equate to killing them quickly and humanely for food?
Forgive my ignorance, but while I understand people's distaste for a bull fight, with all the attendant cruelty, hamstringing and death, but this was a bull run. How does letting some bulls chase some idiots down a street equate with killing and eating one? Perhaps there's some more to this I'm unaware of.

Whatever about the rights or wrongs of it, you've gotta admire the absolutely zero fecks the Spaniards give for 'elf and safety handwringing.
For a flat out 'WTF, people are actually allowed to do that?' event however take a google at the yanshui fireworks festival in Taiwan. Madness!

In many places, the bulls used in bullruns are used in bullfights later in the day, where they will be killed.

In other places, they may later be eaten. That doesn't equate any pair or all three of those three things.

On my list of things to give a **** about, this ranks rather low. That said, I can't agree with those of you who are saying

and the like. This was a student visiting a festival, not a paedo who tore his nutsack on a school railing. It's not like he was the bullfighter.
Here's a photo of the guy:
    http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article10048175.ece/alternates/w460/miller-bulls2.jpg
    And the article:
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/us-student-in-intensive-care-after-being-gored-by-bull-during-spanish-festival-10048220.html

Is that supposed to make us feel sorry for him?

Also, I think you could pretty much compare anyone to a paedophile and they'll come out looking good by comparison so I don't see the merit or relevance of making such a comparison in the first place.

If I ever see you at a restaurant eating meat I'll make sure to stab you in the sphincter with a steak knife, you would deserve it after all.

What a ridiculous thing to say.

    Shit happens.
It happens even more after you're had your sphincter shredded by a big effin' bull.

I hope the bull is ok!

No sympathy for anyone gored at these festivals, they had it coming.

In the past men broke horses, hunted whales, sharks and bears and fought Injuns and pirates.
Who did the Injuns get to fight with their bows and arrows to feel like real men there Tex?

The purpose of the comparison was not to make him look good. It was to make the crowd of people cheering a horrific injury look bad. Okay?

No. It's still a silly comparison, and the reason for using it only serves to make it look more silly because it doesn't even make sense.

Slaughtering an animal to eat is much worse than watching a bull run through the streets.

    Poster erred :)

I objected to the positive reaction to a horrific injury with a comparison to a situation where a horrific injury might actually merit a positive reaction. I chose an over-the-top one for effect.

Some people really need spoon feeding.

To learn how to tell the difference between someone who doesn't understand them and someone thinking their post is silly. And for your information "" is a really condescending way to end a post, and IMO detracts from the validity of the point you're making. Kind of like, your point should substantiate itself, without a need for window dressing and rolleyes.

Wow, that bull seemed to know what it was doing, pants him for easy entry and everything. He didn't just gore the guy he humiliated him.

Anyone who willingly steps in front of one of those things is mad, they should only do it if they want to get gored. Doing it for fun is stupid.

As the pope would say "Mess with my mother, you get the horns", or something along those lines.

You said that I made no sense. I explained myself further. The sarcastic smilie is the product of sleep deprivation, and was unnecessary. I apologise. Would you like to actually debate a point with me, or is your entire contibution here going to be value judgements on my posts?

You can explain yourself all you want. I already pointed out that I don't need your post explained to me because it's not a case of me not understanding it, it's just that I think it is silly. If you don't want people making "value judgments" on your posts maybe you should think twice before casually comparing bull runners with paedophiles.

Even better when the bull hooks a bullfighter with his horns, seemingly they stick those spears in the neck of the bull so he won't be able to fight back before killing it with a sword.

:( So sad, can't believe they still get away with these acts of brutality for "fun".
