Can't see the problem with this, it's their home, their choice. Maybe religious grounds are the reason.

Same as the cake shop up North really, but i suppose the gay brigade will be all over this too

All the same, I'd vote with my wallet and not stay with the bigots.

Of course. And I'd tell him why. He would laugh - not the easily offended type!

So if SSM is legalised, and your brother decides to get married, would you decide to stay in a different hotel come wedding time?
Would you refuse to stay in their house? Or any house that they were staying in?

I personally find gay sex revolting. I have no issue with gay people having sex. I have no issue with Gay people at all.
But let's be real - for the vast majority of straight men, gay sex is not pleasant to contemplate.

Apart from this case in the OP, and the Christian case in the UK B+B, I do not recall any discrimination against gays in hotels or elsewhere.

But maybe you might be able to point it out to me.

This is a storm in a teacup. Designed to get people fired up, and it has.

Gay friendly resorts and hotels are there for gays. Other accommodation is available to them too on a non discriminatory basis. This villa is privately owned, and the owner can choose whom they wish to occupy it.

Gays can be their own worst enemies sometimes by highlighting discrimination that does not exist in the business world. Private lettings, maybe, but that is their right.

You do realise the reason there are few reported cases is because it is illegal? And these cases are highlighted because it is contrary to the law?

If you look to the US though you can see a movement in a number of states to legalise just this sort of discrimination - allowing everybody from hotels to doctors(!) to refuse service based on moral objections.

Have we established there is any right to discriminate in private commercial lettings?

there you go bjork. Playing the victim is a bit embarrassing tbh, and anyone suggesting that a straight sex sauna is discrimination is an idiot. By all means open your sauna and let us know how you get on, see if anyone cares.

Playing the victim is embarrassing you are right.

I also see you don't have respect for other peoples sexuality that don't fit in to your narrow definition.

Unfortunately, not everyone is as tolerant as you are. They're be a whole load of intolerant bigots protesting outside the door before I opened about discrimination. Demanding their way or the highway.

Not quite, apparently our homosexual friends (and self confessed experts) have determined you have a choice in the matter. Admit you are a bigot or accept you are gay.

Sorry for being 'pretty stupid'. It's totally ****ing disgusting though, isn't it?

    Nope.

Not my cup of tea, but as long as everybody involved is consenting adults, then its fine.

Just like all the wild crazy parties that straight people have in holiday resorts.

Perhaps if you were less judgmental about what consenting adults do together the world would be a better place for both of us.

Am I bigoted or homophobic? Umm don't think so. I have a gay brother who I don't treat differently. But I shiver at the thought of two blokes being intimate. Sorry if that is offensive but I can't help it!
Would you refuse to let your brother and his partner stay in your house?
Of course. And I'd tell him why. He would laugh - not the easily offended type!
And would you refuse a straight brother on the basis he might have sex?
Eh no...as I said it is two guys having sex that makes me shiver.

So you do treat him differently then. Fair play.

Also, why would you spend anytime thinking about him having sex, whether he's gay or straight? That's almost as creepy as your lesbian spy cam fantasy.

Maybe just don't think about it, no?

So your offended by your imagined reaction to a sauna for hetro people to have sex. (Maybe there already is places like that I don't know).
But discrimination against real people which is actually happening is ok?
    Amiright?

They are lying to you in order to not upset the uber liberals. 99% of straight guys find gay sex absolutely disgusting.

    Lol just lol

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I've learned from this thread : discrimination against women is ok, discrimination against "straight" people is ok, sweeping racist generalisations about countries are ok, if gay people want to have sex in my bed that's ok and if anyone suggests otherwise >> they're a biggot. "Live and let live" means "live my way or else" in some quarters

Once the discrimination being carried out by "gay" people

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,821 ✭✭✭floggg

The owners are probably afraid that gay people could possible leave bodily fluids around where some other unlucky person staying there afterwards could possibly get aids from. A reasonable fear imo.

Reasonable... As long as we take reasonable to mean "completely irrational?"

None of those things are ok.

Is gay people wanting to have sex in your bed a common occurrence?

If you open a straight sex sauna, you problem won't be gays barring the door, it'll be getting straight women in. And you know that.

I fully agree it is MY problem. I just don't accept that I am a bigot because of it. I am against lots of things, all of which are MY problem. Sometimes I am wrong, and democracy allows things against my judgements. I accept this. I am self aware. I am never sure my opinion is the correct one. Is this not an acceptable position?

On the whole you probably aren't and I'm sure your good to him.

But it's still possible tp have some homophobic or intolerant views and stances. I wouldn't judge anybody for that - it's hard not to pick some up.

It's refusing to acknowledge when you are being intolerant, or requiring others to adjust their behaviour to suit your intolerances that's the problem.

There's nothing wrong with not being comfortable with others sex lives. But you are regulating his behaviour because of your discomfort.

What if he gets married at some point. Would you refuse to let him and his husband stay over? Whatever about your brother, I wouldn't feel all that accepted as the husband being told I couldn't stay because the idea of two married men sleeping together repulsed you.

If I understand this correctly - you see the problem as getting straight women through the door?

here's a bit from the Indo about swinging clubs
    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/tv-radio/swinging-sex-clubs-attracting-societys-elites-26828170.html

"Women take it very seriously, meeting up to eight men a week, sometimes a couple a day. They were the main users, surprisingly. Whereas men just seem to dip their toe in and out of the water. These are everyday women; bored housewives, women sitting at home looking for a bit of a thrill."

also the chippendales etc do very well in Ireland

You didn't even have the decently to call me by my post op name, which I politely requested to be called. I suppose because I'm not a transsexual in the traditional sense of the word, you feel there is no need to respect me because I don't fit your narrow definition of what a transsexual is.

How is this relevant to you talking about "gay" people in inverted commas having sex in your bed, etc?

I didn't address you as anything, I said you. Nor had I read this post you mention. I'm pretty much the furthest you could get from transphobic, I'm bewildered how you came to that conclusion to be honest. I had no idea you even stated to be transexual, stop looking for a fight.

You haven't learned anything from this thread. You're still waffling on with your "what about this gay-only business?" like it means something even though the difference has been made clear at least half a dozen times.

You're not intolerant, you're a victim. These are not idle words, they are no less a creed to live your entire life by.

Now write that down and never forget it. Judge flogg and judge joey will be alongside soon to demonstrate the appropriate method of cementing the mindset in and ensuring you will never be liked, trusted, accepted or equal on anyones terms bar your own.

Whats creepy about his lesbian fantasy? Any visit to any adult store or adult website would attest to the massive popularity of the genre amongst the heterosexual community.

Seems obvious to me that the "spy cam" bit is what's creepy.
