What's up with it? Is that not just a rubber cover over the shock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,920 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

It is but the top of it is rusted and cracking. Also when going over speed bumps, there's a creaking noise front the front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,618 ✭✭✭ba_barabus

Long shot here people but my starter has gone on the Citroen BX.

Does anyone have one or know a way I could start it? It's an auto so push starting is out of the question.

I wouldn't be too worried about the rust. Best make absolutely sure its the shocks before replacing them, as they're not cheap!

I'll be buying front koni sport yellow shocks in the next year, match the rears.

I dropped the price on her too.. one of the cheapest on adverts and has it all.

Don't want it to sit on adverts for weeks and weeks like most seem to do. Really want it gone by the end of the month

Just wondering how much would you let high mileage on a car effect your decision to buy it? There's a car on donedeal that may tick all the boxes for me but it has 223,000 miles on the clock.

Depends on what it is, and what it looks like. There's a part of me that would be concerned at that mileage, but it all depends on what was done to it, and what you're expecting from it.

If that's all motorway miles, it's not a problem. It's not the amount of miles, it's the type.

I want something big and comfortable and good for motorway miles as these days that what I drive 90% of the time. The 330i will be getting moved on I know I'm not going to get the same performance levels as that but want something solid reliable enough space for two babies and I wont feel like dying when im sitting in it.

I'm finding it hard to find something that's nice and clean giving me everything I want and within the budget I'm looking at this would tick the boxes bar the mileage being very high.

But there's no way of knowing that really.

Was really liking Mondeo St TDCI but been reading a lot of horror stories one for sale though which states the injectors have been replaced.

Looks like a very clean well minded car although paper never refuses ink the amount of cars I went to look at that looked clean in the pictures but were wrecked when I went to view. Anyway at that mileage wouldn't bother me too much at that money and considering its 1.9tdi they are well able to put up mileage when minded.

Well, you'll know by how it feels if you're test-driving it.

You'll know if it's shagged out or struggling.

If you kept your mickey covered, you could be driving an M3 by now ;)

Replaced my brake light switch today, few things of note:

    1. Auto seems to shift smoother, I think the switch is wired to the torque converter.
    2. Cruise Control now works perfectly every time.
    3. The car no longer randomly brakes itself.

Happy out, here's to hoping it wasn't just a fluke the previous errors didn't show up after the new one was put in :D
