Why is leather interior called cow? Cow skin doesn't seem very leathery to me.

Well, that was not helpful at all. I knew that it comes from sort of animal, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of a cow. Then again, I just read the title and looked at the pictures. But still...

Leather (for the most part) comes from a cow :)

Have you ever touched a cow? It's nothing like the leather you see in cars. :P

For curiosities sake, I changed a quote from axa I got on my corolla to that celica and the quote went from 413 to 561. Which doesn't seem too bad.

They don't look or feel like there's loads of yummy cuts of meat & steaks in there either, but it's there :p

Did you ever get the smell from an aflame leather-seated car?

All you need is for the sun to be out and a beer in your hand and you have a lovely BBQ :D

i checked too. quotes are coming in between €1k to 1200 area for me. i'm paying less than €600 on the corolla.

my insurance was best @ aged 21 when i insured the glanza for €500, it's been going up and up ever since, despite me getting older and having more no claims.

interestingly, quotes didn't even budge between 140 and 190 models or between import or irish car.

As I said earlier 25plus would not quote me on a Irish 190 a few days ago. I really wanted a gen 6 BEAMS but she said they do not do jap imports so I told her try this 190 and she said sorry we cannot insure you.

    Computer says no.

jaysus that's dire. what are your details if you don't mind me asking?

the 140 is as slow as a wet week ffs. i genuinely didn't think these were high risk cars!

Axa will insure me on a 190 for €1150. Just tried there. 2 years no claims bonus.

Have you tried that Campion crowd? They seemed exceptionally reasonable to me. Ask for a chap called Eric. I presume he's somewhat involved in running the business as, when he quoted me 1200, and I told him Chill beat him (€888), he sounded like he got a bit annoyed.

He said he had to make a call cos 'I don't understand how Chill can do that', and he'd ring me back. Rang me back 5 minutes later with a quote of €715 (beating chill by over €170!).

Last year my 34 year old brother with about 10 years NCD rang everyone he could think of. Then a guy that does courier work mentioned Campion to him. He rang Campion just for the laugh and they gave an off-the-bat price that beat everyone else by about €50 (that was how I first heard of them).

That said, my brother drives a Megane 1.4, Im getting insured on a 1.6 Focus, and the courier was driving a Commercial van (a Nissan something-or-other). So none of us are driving performance cars or such. But well worth giving them a call, anyway.

I changed my mind getting the car as I am a few months into my year of insurance and don't want to lose them few months of no claims. Maybe later in the year when my year is up I can look into getting a new quote. My current insurer would not quote me on any car I wanted mostly as they were jap imports with 1.8-2.0 engines.
