Pointless is where it'a at now!

Was flicking channels a few weeks ago and came across Bullseye on Challenge, Can't believe it used to pass for entertainment.

Pointless is great, don't get me wrong, but it wrecks my head when they have a round of questions that doesn't have a pointless answer available.

Watched Top Gear last night and turned it off, I always took the challenges with a pinch of salt but they've jumped the shark big time on it now.

Top gear used to be one of my favourite shows but now it's gotten very predictable. It just seems to be an outlet for the three to moan over and over again.

Once it's popularity drops Clarkson will jump ship.

Ice Road Truckers since one of the guys who was in it admitted most of it was staged.

Course it's fucking staged. I hate all those crap "reality" shows that bombard me. I can't watch any of it. You buy a cable subscription and you get channel after channel of rubbish. I've tried looking at some of them but they are just crap.

    Storage Wars
    Pawn Stars
    Ice Road Truckers
Ax men (Christ a weekly reality show about knuckleheads chopping down trees!!!)
And the countless cop/authority shows getting the public brainwashed to the ever presence of the "man"
    Road Rage
    Night Cops
    Carribean Cops
    Nothing to declare
    blah, blah.

Even the nature shows are all trite and banal now.
    Predators
    Shark Wars or some crap...

    Where's Attenborough??

And do what? He wouldn't be able to live on his Sunday Times salary.

I'd throw Family Guy into the same box now. It's always been sort of bad, but a with a sense of humor I kind of liked.

I liked the first couple of seasons of Family Guy, but even then I found it used to oscillate between really funny and not even remotely funny bits consistently, nothing really in between. The funny parts were worth enduring the rest for though!

The only decent documentaries around are on BBC or Netflix, discovery channel has turned into a terrible channel, national geographic isn't much better but still has some good programmes.

He'll probably be given his own show to gripe about everything. He's actually an intelligent man and he's good at interviewing the guests that come on top gear.

The Walking Dead. Pilot ep. directed by Frank Darabont (of The Shawshank Redemption), and first series executive produced by him.
He was cut after the first season when they wanted to do twice as many episodes per season with 80% of original budget.

It was very promising for the first few episodes but the line is clearly drawn where Darabont left and the quality falloff is huge

    Home and Away.

Way too much fake glam in it these days. God be with the days of Pippa and Mike giving Sally a good talking to.

    And Hayley, **** gold.

Sophie was the **** queen. I pulled my teenage plum hundreds of times to her.

Match of the Day, have not watched in over 10 years, no point to it now really when you can see the goals so easily on the net.

I almost fell into that trap, but sometimes you get amazing matches that may have only one goal or even 0-0!
I always make a point of having a few beers and grub set aside for my MOTD viewing and soak it all up.

The final episode of How I Met your Mother, retroactively ruining the entire series for me. Just can't watch it anymore...even the episodes I liked.

    Screw you Ted Mosby!!

I can honestly say that I thought it was a great ending. :)

I was never a fan during the shows production run really. But near the end of last year I spotted that the whole thing was on Netflix. Watched it all in about 3/4 weeks. Having no real 8 year long term expectation on how it all should end probably helped me come to that conclusion, I'll admit :D

I really prefer American Dad over Family Guy these days.
For me, it's a much better show.
Although now it's moved networks in the states, they might make a balls of it!

And no, it's not the same thing as FG, for those who haven't seen it :pac:

Anything with "wars" in the title. Like seeing Barry Weiss coming into the lot with his latest unusual contraption though. Dave Hester has allegedly put a trademark on his Yuuuup saying too.

I used to love watching Happy Days, but then there was this episode where Fonzie jumped over a shark on water skis.

I was done with the show after that.

Homeland and the Simpsons were both shows that started amazingly well but have become caricatures of themselves now.

Hester was sacked from the show and spilled the beans on what we all suspected, that they plant valuable or interesting items in the containers.
    Also incredibly annoying man.

Anything Discovery for the past 10 or so years. The amount of times I have watched episodes on topics I'd know about very well and the amount of false information, fake sounds effects and over drama of small trivial things to make them into a big deal for no reason.

And in the 40min show they repeat themselves every 5mins in case your brain stroked off for a few seconds somewhere. Basically all the flawed info could be conveyed in about 15mins.

Seemed ludicrous that some of the valuable items weren't used by the original owners of the unit to sell themselves.

    Don't tell the bride,

used to be half funny/interesting when you saw the groom was a loola, but now it's just predictable in that you know he's gonna pick everything she hates, and spend 70% of the budget on his stag do in Las Vegas.

especially before/after ad breaks (which you notice so much more when watching with delay so you can fast forward the ads).

return from ad break, you get a 5 minute summary of the 5 minutes prior to the ad break.

The Cosby Show. Grew up watching it on RTE, loved it. Tried separating the man from the work and thinking maybe he's innocent, they're only accusations for now, innocent until proven guilty... But 33 of them, they're hardly all chancers. Plus, it's a bit more shíte than I remember anyway.

Only watch them online, but Community and Parks and Recreation have gone to shíte. Best American comedy at the moment is Brooklyn 99

Countryfile, my husband makes me watch it every Sunday.

I do like nature programmes but every week Countryfile is about a cow in a field or someone selling homemade jam at some posh market for 20 euro a jar!

Deadliest Catch turned ridiculous as well. I think it' on something like it's 11th series, talk about flogging a dead horse.

Googlebox was brilliant for the first 2 or 3 seasons, when watching any of the original cast it all seemed natural and I could relate to the discussions, debates, arguements they had when watching the tv with family. Any newcomers all seem to be fake or putting it on.
