Ya he played well but hasnt really seemed up for it since he is back just doesnt look up for getting kicked and out muscled all game without getting free. It has worked for other players that have come to the premier league. And your suggestion that he cant add some strength training without inhibiting his other training is interesting.

As I said its bizarre to be against something which has no down side and hopefully a very positive upside

Well we will have to agree to disagree. I think it's nonsense to suggest that Di Maria's physique is anything to do with his poor run of form.

Wayne Rooney has not hit a shot on target in the Premier League in 2015. His last came away to Tottenham on December 28th.

Everyone is on the same page here with their points about Rooney in midfield.
How does LVG think that is helping the team? Herrara on the bench must be thinking 'wtf do ive to do to get on here'.
Some of the decisions LVG has made this year have been really baffling. Is he that stubborn that he cant change his mind?
Everyone knew 3-5-2 wasnt working long before LVG changed it.
Everyone knew DiMaria cant play up front but he still played him for at least 2 games in that position.
Phil Jones taking corners was one of the the most bizarre thing id ever seen by a coach.
The whole world can see Rooney cant play in that position.

If he does move rooney it has to be in place of Falcao or RVP.
He obviously hasnt copped on that their partnership up front isnt working.

Big fear of losing out on 4th. If Fergie was managing that team Utd would be battling for first. This crap we are seeing is a result of LVGs management of the players. Awful stuff.

Just flicking through the thread since game but the post about Di Maria being the worst corner taker in history says a lot. I mean ffs.

He was on FIFA team of year but he is worst player in world too. I mean seriously!

Again the main problem is 2 things today

    1. Midfield getting over run
    2. Lack of creativity and neat football when attacking.

Both these are down to the manager(ment)

Falcao never stopped running and fighting for the ball today,in fairness he should've scored when through on goal.
RVP looked like he wasn't interested most of the time,a damp squib for his 100th appearance.

Falcao works hard, but then so would Shane Long or Anthony Stokes.

For elite strikers , it's about taking a chance when it comes your way, and Falcao has not looked like a finisher during his time at United so far

How many chances has he had so far that you could say,"me granny would've scored that"? He seems to end up 40 yards from goal with a CB kicking him or trying to reach over hit crosses. If I had Valencia 'providing' me service,I'd fucking deck him.As bad as Val has been doing that,we've seen very little come from the other side either.

Any one have the stats on rooney second half, the sky commentators after the game where saying something crazy about him in the second half stats wise and wanted to see what they where on about.
    Sorry about being vague.

I see york was saying Falcao is still up in the air if he should be kept, surely time to chop. The cash paid for him he should be delivering straight away never mind over half way into the League. The question is who would ya get to cover him Cavani to me see seems ideal with Rooney up front. If you could pry Lewandowski from Atletico he would do damage.

    Mandžukić???

It's not just the ones my granny would score, he should score the odd tricky one too,
Such as today or v Cambridge

Look at the passing stats here: http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszone/8-2014/matches/755542/summary#tabs-wrapper-anchor

No wonder we were so ineffective moving forward.Square and backwards seemed to be the order of the day especially on the right.

At least Rojo had 100% success in his clearances, really prefer him to Evans at this stage.

We need a new partner for him though. Jones has looked headless the past few games. I like him but he's really not playing well and looks panicky.

14 games left - they have more then enough time to pass us out, we have some very hard matches coming up in those 14 too ... City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton etc. ... this really is going to be a struggle.

Its going to be a huge struggle with the fixtures coming up next month.

Looking at the fixtures at the start of the season and taking into account Utd's easy opening fixtures the team really needed a big lead on the likes of Spurs,Arsenal and Liverpool by the end of February .

Injuries havent helped and alot of points were squandered early on against poor sides like Leicester,Burnley,West Brom ,but the team's general performances especially away from home have been poor.

If Van Gaal doesnt drastically improve the performances in the next 2 months ,especially away from home,he could be under extreme pressure come May 1st.

Come March it'll be exactly a year since we came from behind to win a game (4-1 vs Villa),it used to be the norm that we did it when needed and it pissed off opposition fans no end,a draw seems to be the best outcome these days, not good enough.

Well that was pure scutter; Liquidised, 'morning after a feed of cider and kebabs', ring-incinerating scutter, lacking any sign of something solid in it's fabric. With these players, this manager, this club, there is no excuse for a 1st half performance like today's.
I think we played very badly in the first half, but we showed a lot of fight and spirit in the second, especially after their goal.

But I have to say what spirit my team showed after going behind, and I have thanked my players for that.

For real? Rather than thanking them for doing a job they're very well paid to do, how about crucifying them for their 1st half performance and telling them the 2nd half performance is the bare minimum expected of them?

A manager 'thanking' his own players like that after a lucky 1-1 draw vs West Ham is dangerous territory in my mind. It is normally the kind of behaviour befitting a manager under pressure who is trying to win over his players a la Moyes around this time last year.

If we carry on through the next few 'easy' games like this, top 4 will be gone. This is the run of games we should be taking advantage of before we have to go back to playing genuine quality teams. I'm holding LVG responsible for our failings, and our success if it comes to that. It is getting past the point of infuriating looking at him shoehorning Rooney, Falcao, RVP, and Di Maria into the starting 11 at the expense of a threadbare CM. Our CM is a state, but for the first time in years it isn't because of lack of personnel, it's down to the stubbornness of our manager IMO. Herrera isn't simply just being kept out of the team because of Rooney in CM though, there is shít going on here that we don't know about. Carrick-Blind-Fellaini-Herrera-Di Maria, they are the players our CM should be comprised of ideally. I really have no idea what he's trying to accomplish with Rooney, a born goalscorer, playing there.

All the above said, and I haven't even thrown half of the toys I have out of the pram there, things aren't just as bad yet as some are stating they are.

We have just one defeat in the last 17 games in all competitions and aren't hemorrhaging losses like we were last season, especially at home. Our form has improved against the 'top' teams, thank fúck I know, otherwise we'd be 7th/8th at the moment. Where I couldn't tell for the life of me what Moyes was trying to accomplish with the team, I can see what LVG is trying even if it's not clicking as fast as it should be, and even if it is not my own ideal choice of play.

I'm still firmly with LVG, but some of the things he is doing now, if he carries on doing them without progress for much longer (i.e. Rooney in CM with no impact) they could very easily become hangable offences in my book if we finish outside the Top 4.

The thing that depressed me most today was that we never ever looked a threat until we went route one.
Di Maria played very poor imo, as did RVP. Falcao worked hard, but his first touch was off, and he missed a sitter. Rooney worked hard, as usual, but he's not a creative force in midfield. Jan was underwhelming. We'd have more success if we replaced Jan with Jan Venegoor of Hessilink. That says it all really.

Ok it mightn't have been a sitter but it was a poor attempt at a finish, I'd expect someone of his quality to put it away.

Not giving Mourinho his dream job is probably one of the biggest mistakes the club have made

He made his bed with his carry on at Real.. Bobby Charlton and the rest of board were very concerned not to bring that kind stuff to the clubs doorstep.

Whatever you think/say about Ferguson, Moyes and LVG - respect for the clubs image was/is very very important.

Touchy? Its a complete fabrication that he would ever have chosen Utd over Chelsea. I would say he used the Utd interest to get the Chelsea job

Both are fabrications as nobody can know what Mourinho really would have wanted.

    It's all supposition.

I'd be very surprised if he looks at anything beyond playing squad and budget.
