I dont pay too much attention to the Spanish league, but can anyone tell me why exactly is Bale getting abuse/stick off the Madrid Fans in recent games? Or when/why it started?

It all stemmed back to a game a couple of months ago when he got booed by the fans for missing a one on one when he could have squared the ball to Ronnie for a simple tap in. At that time Ronaldo had to come out and back him. Really strange as he got a brace at home a week or two after that but the fans aren't dropping it. Don't know if something else happened that I missed

Edit: Seems the fans think he is a "ball hog" and the Ronaldo incident followed a similar one from a previous week with Benzema

Strikes me they want Bale to basically recognize he's second fiddle to Ronaldo and dare not upstage him, and that everything should be about getting Ronaldo goals. And no matter how many he'll score, they'll be all over him every time he misses one that he should be taking the shot at but is choosing not to give it to Ronnie.

Hope he tells them to stuff it and comes to us, though :D Extra motivation to prove himself if he does....

Antonione Griezmann looks to be developing into a genuine worldclass player , would love to see United go in for him in the summer would cost a fortune though

So my guess at todays team would be

    De gea
    Rafa,smalling,rojo,Shaw
    Blind,
    Fellani,Rooney
    Di Maria
    Rvp and falcao

He might change di Maria for Mata if the break in thing is affecting him which I doubt it

Would have thought he would start mata over Fellani and have dimaria in midfield

No team leaks this week,LVG must have caught the culprit........Now if he can swap Di Maria and Rooney we'd be more effective.

He could do just thinking he mite put fellani in for bit of steel and he is in good form. Too many good midfielders that's our problem haha

United XI:De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, Rooney, Januzaj, Di Maria, Falcao, van Persie

    would prefer mcnair and fellaini

Should be still strong enough I'm surprised with januzai but delighted he getting a decent run.

Agree, definitely McNair after the cup win

Januzaj played well in his last start. Faded a bit if I recall correctly, but took on his man more often than not. Surprised McNair isn't starting RB after his performance, but perhaps easing him in to the role is a better option.

How did Valencia win player of the month for Jan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭Quandary

Blind will need to have a very good game considering how defensively frail our midfield is. We are lucky that Carroll, Collins and Reid are out for West Ham.

Any line-up with Rooney, Jan, Di Maria, Falcao and Van Persie just looks forced to get Rooney in the team.

I actually think that team could be quite effective with a 442. Jan and Di Maria as wingers, swapping over regularly. Blind as a holding midfielder and rooney as the advanced midfielder.
I'd rather have Herrera in there for rooney in midfield, but given the team picked, I think that'd be more effective than a diamond. Di Maria isn't a number 10, and Jan isn't a centre mid, neither is rooney.
Interesting fact: I played West Ham in football manager last night, and my team was De Gea, Raf, Jones, Evans, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Strootman, Herrera, Januzaij, Rooney, Cavani. With Bony and Kovacic on the bench.

Most likely votes by South American fans. How he was even nominated in the first place is beyond me.

I think its more to fit van persie and falcao in the team

No point fitting both of them in if we are weak in midfield and have nobody to deliver a decent cross from the wings

It makes more sense to me now why LVG chose Rooney to be captain. Soften the blow when he asks him to play midfield instead of upfront.

Didnt Rooney nearly leave because he was played out of position? Surely hes not happy in midfield. Now that he is captain tho he psychologicaly thinks he must do it for the good of the team. If he wasnt captain i think we would hear more about this....

This is great, being outplayed, out fought and out thought by West Ham. Depressing.

    Lets hope things improve quickly.

    They are growing into game

So a midfield trio of Rooney, Januzaj and Blind is getting overrun?

    What a fcuking surprise!

When is LVG going to learn that Rooney should not be a midfielder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,408 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Real Madrid must be laughing that we paid £60 million for the worst corner taker in world football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭Quandary

What a bloody farce that half was. We are are not going to make the top 4 while Wayne Rooney is shoehorned into midfield along with a light weight Januzaj. Blind is running around like a headless chicken trying to cover for the defensive weaknesses of Rooney and Januzaj.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 972 ✭✭✭Deiseboy01

    Awful stuff here today.

Need to bulk out midfield urgently. No way should we be playing two up top.

4411, put Jan and Angel on the wings. Play Rooney off Falcao.

Hard to believe we've players like Falcao, RVP, Di Maria and Rooney and are so impotent.

I don't think we're being outplayed here in normal play. West Ham are only threatening from set-pieces. Our attacking play, however, has been poor

Dreadful shíte altogether .. I'd take a draw all day here.

put on fellaini and we will be more comfortable at set pieces.
