Some working class girls names are outrageous.

If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it.

Well at least people are not being so lazy and the instances of Aaron are going down!

My name still seems to be common enough. Good to know.

424 with my name last time round! Very common Irish girls name. It is kinda declining though.

I love the name Madeleine but it has connotations when you hear it, it's really sad because it's such a lovely name.

I feel the same about "Adolf"

Some working class girls names are outrageous.

But are they outrageous because they are working-class? If "Emily" had first become popular among people, while "Jacintha" was first introduced among the Foxrock set, would we view the names in the same way?

    My names popularity is declining.

Good, too many other Katies out there anyway!!

That was never going to happen though. It's the Bouba/kiki effect.

See also, Oliver and Hugo v Mike and Darren

OOO OO OOO v KKKK KKK KKK

One is melodious, the other grates.

My name has become more common in the past ten years. And the shortened version of my name has become even more common.

Yes, my name was very popular in 2007 and took a dip from 12 (07) to 4 (08) to 6 (09-13) since!

I was surprised to see so many girls called by my first name in recent years. I though it was gone now but popular in the 70s.
I called my daughter by a 'normal' irish name, but it's not registered on that so I reckon she'll be the only one of her age group.... Unless ive started a trend! (Doubtful)
I'm always a bit sorry I did not call her Maisie but it's very popular according to that list so maybe it's not a bad thing.

Matilda is a name really coming back into fashion. Nice name though having said that.

The popularity of the name Callum rises and falls with Callum Best's appearances on reality TV. As do other names I'd say.

Bence as a boys name! Never heard of it.

Iseult is a pretty mank girls name.

My name is actually on the list!! I'm never on lists...or mugs.

Grew in popularity during the recession. Dropped off to 6 in 2013 though.:(

My name, Paul, is in sharp decline. Tbh if I was to pick a name for myself I wouldn't choose it, it's very bland.

Neither my name nor my sister's is on that list. Only met one other person with my name and never heard of anyone with my sisters name, and mine is a name from a song back in the 50's and her name was in the title of a movie a few years back.

    What's the pronunciation?
I'm thinking curve-all anyway but its doubt its that

Its pronounced "kar + ul" actually, but lots of people "ker + vaw" / "ker + vall" etc

If you drop the first consonant from my name there is a huge difference in numbers choosing the latter name. Almost sounds the same too!

    Ah jaysus.

My name is averaging 18 a year. I wouldn't mind but there are 4 of us sharing the same name and surname on the same road. Our postman goes insane:-)

But spell my name backwards and it averages at 160 a year.

    I hate this world:-(

My name isn't on the list. It's never on lists. I never get personalised keyrings or the like.
That being said, my sister in law has a best friend with the same first name as me. I also met a woman years ago who had it but she spelt it differently (incorrectly! :p)
My first name is Greek (it means 'leafy' for those who might be curious) and my surname is French but as far back as I have gone in my family tree, my ancestors are all Irish. I've never met anybody else unrelated to me with my surname at home or abroad.

I love my name. I can't see it ever becoming popular though as it's as uncommon now as it's ever been from what I can tell.

Well over 250 of my name in 2004, less than 100 this year.
My name peaked in 1978 and there was 6 students in my class of 30 with my name.

37 registrations for my name over the 10 years of the study, so I guess it's no longer popular..... there are 3 of us with the same first name in my office, which is a first for me!

Mine a very well known Irish name but not particularly common, I'd imagine it was more popular years and years and yeeeeaaaars ago. Not so much now, but I like it :)

The same here. I like having an ever increasing less common name.
