A polite note pointing out that you are no longer at the address and were not the occupant or owner at the time of the survey - give them the dates you vacated - will do the trick.
Lord help us if you say you never came across an error in your employment.

I have but none ever had a threat of legal action

    Received a letter...

Seems standard letter from someone doing their job; trying to clamp down on the 25% of the population not with registered waste collection service, but dumping their crap in the ditches and lanes of Limerick, and other places, or backyard burning it. They might have even found flytipped waste with your details on it...
You can be a twat and send on a poorly written smarmy arsed reply and wait for your summons, and probable conviction, or you can write back and say you don't live there, and haven't in a few years. Everyone moves on. You won't win, they deal with this ****e every day!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭Venus In Furs

How do they have your mother's address? Or was it forwarded there? If so, are you still registered at that address? In which case they can't know you moved. If you had no input into the waste management, how was it your name they had?
    Dear Sir/Madam,

I received a letter today in relation to the waste management at the following address:

    Address

This letter is in relation to a survey, about the the waste management at the above the address.

I no longer live at this address, and have not for the best part of 2 years. And furthermore when i did live at this address all that time ago, i have no input into the waste management of the household...

I feel that your have wasted tax payers money(of which i'm one) to send a letter to me about this topic...despite me not living at the address.

I'm also not impressed with the treat of legal action, is this all you people at the limerick council have to do all day...Fill your days with treats against people at address' they no longer live at.

I expect an email and a phone(my number) call monday morning to comfirm the resolution of this situation.

I can be contacted between 9am and 9.15am, 2.15pm and 2.45pm Monday. As i'll be busy at work paying taxes and thus your wage.

    Best Wishes
    Sober "Pays Your Wage" Paddy
"Threat". And remove the bolded bits - they're beyond obnoxious. The person who opens it will unlikely be the person who wrote and sent the (automated) letter. You don't know what they do in there all day. They letter you got does not mean they "fill" their days with threats against people at addresses they no longer live at.
They're not going to just leap to ring you as soon as first thing Monday morning simply because you say you expect it - they have a lot of stuff to do, and deal with a lot of people. They'll get to you as soon as they can.

Enough has been said on the "pay your wages" stuff - you're not their employer.

If you're polite, they'll likely be keener to assist you and be more apologetic. The above will make them loathe you.

Are public institutions entitled to pursue legal action under certain circumstances?

    It's the government...
They do if all the time!

Oh grow up! They are doing their job based on the information they had. Legal action is the correct next step for people failing to report how their waste is processed. What do you want them to do? They sent the request, which was ignored, so this is the procedural follow on.
Just point out the error in a calm polite manner and job done.

I'm wondering would the OP pull this pay your wages line if he was stopped at a garda checkpoint

You're just looking for a chance to be pi55ed off I reckon. Probably the type of person who verbally berates politicians who canvass your house too.

About time they started clamping down on this, the country looks like a tip.

No thats completely different, they are doing their jobs...these lads at the council are threating legal action for something i have no knowledge of and at an address i no longer reside

They're not threatening legal action. They sent a reminder detailing what could happen if you didn't reply.
Solution-tell them you don't live there.

The council lads are only doing their job as well.

Are you especially looking for a fight?

But their records think you are part of it. It's probably all automated. Try being polite first and then if that doesnt work be as much of a **** as you like.

You keep missing the point. Just take a few minutes to reread some of the replies. They are doing their job. It is their job to take legal action against those who don't properly dispose of domestic waste and the completion of the forms is part of that. I, for one, am delighted to see they take such steps and just wish more councils were as active on this.
Just accept an error occurred and stop looking for vindication that your anger is justified.

This is what else they are doing in Limerick city council...Threatening fines in excess of millions to people who restored roof tiles

Are you still in Limerick OP?

Just I kinda hope that when you clarify that you don't live there anymore, they send someone round to do a thorough inspection of your current address and put you through an enormous pain in the ass amount of paperwork over trivial things.

I know a girl living nearby me who got smart with the council and went in with threats and causing aggro. I've seen the council van outside her house loads of times since then. Making her do trivial tedious things (like painting the front door, cos it wasnt at an acceptable standard, and other such nonsense etc.). (that said, she was in a council house, so they could wreck her head easily enough with trivial stuff).

If you send that letter, I hope you get the same or similar treatment. :)

What's that got to do with the price of cabbages

So the planning department are actually trying to enforce the rules? Well good for them.

You'd be better off concentrating on your own issue, and either making a polite phone call on Monday to explain the error in their records, or else sending a polite note to that effect.

They're not mind-readers, you know. There's a mistake in their database. Big deal. Put them right.

Live in an apartment with waste included:D

That letter is aggressive, patronising and insulting to the council staff who will read it and put it in the bin. So youre wasting your time. Just write a civil matter of fact letter and you're much more likely to get a result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,568 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Where did the waste end up that was produced at this property while you were there? You must have some idea as to where it ended up ? That is the issue, I'm sure everyone got that letter and replied to it, or they are getting reminders like you.

Thanks for that. You have clarified it all for me.

You're just looking to let rip at the council about anything and everything. Reconsider the situation when you're more rational on Monday morning.

Also for the record i have NEVER flytipped or anything like that...All the palces i've lived in the passed have had waste management included...

So if anything with my address ended up in a ditch it certainly wasn't my doing

But my taxes pay them and your taxes

You buying your shopping in Tesco or whatever technically pays the workers there too, doesn't mean you're their boss.
